• Question regarding USB2/3 throughput

I'm looking to pick up a high performance flash drive for my netbook to boot from, as opposed to the dismal 4GB SSD that came with it. The issue here is that it only has USB2 ports. I know that there are USB3 drives that can do 40+ MB/s write speeds, and that USB2 is limited to 35MB/s throughput, so I couldn't get full speeds. My question is, would I only be limited by the 35MB/s throughput limit of USB2, or would something else prevent me from getting speeds that high? Has anyone done tests on this?
