I can picture Bill now. "Gosh darn, only 6.63 billion dollars."
Microsoft aren't as good as they were a while back, tbh.
If it weren't for the Kinect hacks, I highly doubt many Kinects would have even been sold...
If it weren't for the Kinect hacks, I highly doubt many Kinects would have even been sold...
I think Kinect is mostly targeted at technology illiterate people, since it's a piece of trash that no person in their right mind would buy.

I think it is kind of stupid to rely on the Kinect so much for their sales. From seeing all the new input devices (wii controller, PS3 motion thing, PC controller similar to Wii seen in videos, and Kinect) I don't think these are their new product they have confidence in. It seems more like tests, between all the companies to try to innovate new motion controls. Not that they are useless them selves, but rather could use a lot more time on them.
The first part is mostly right, but the second is wrong.
You are right. It's designed to be a piece of trash, but it has much more potential, by being hacked etc. My bad :)
If Microsoft released Kinect drivers for the PC right from the start and marketed it as "MS exclusive hardware" (I understand Linux and Mac hacks would follow), they would've had a really awesome device, straight from the box that would've sold a lot more units and probably have them up on last year's sales.
Kinect: It can do anything but play games!
Looks like Microsoft is just looking to get more money...
Microsoft aren't as good as they were a while back, tbh.
Apple killed a huge chunk of the sales of Windows, and Microsoft killed a huge chunk of their own video game system sales due to rushing to release the Xbox 360, which severely lacked proper cooling in initially, and would crash within ten minutes of opening the box.
Kinect, you wanted it, you got it! But, not for the PC. =P
Kinect, you wanted it, you got it! But, not for the PC. =P
I think MS said something about them considering to work on a driver for Windows
Kinect, you wanted it, you got it! But, not for the PC. =P
They are making the Kinect SDK for the Pc right now. [editline]29th January 2011[/editline] http://www.winrumors.com/microsoft-preparing-official-kinect-drivers-and-sdk-for-windows/
Looks like Microsoft is just looking to get more money...
that's the name of the game

You don't see Nintendo milking the motion-control games very much nowadays, they're moving on. If a console specifically designed to work for motion control couldn't last more than half a decade without having to put more focus on it's core fanbase, how long can one expect Kinect to last?
I don't understand all of the Kinect hate. I just played it at my friend's earlier and had fun with it.
Looks like Microsoft is just looking to get more money...
They're a business. What else should they be looking for?
I don't understand all of the Kinect hate. I just played it at my friend's earlier and had fun with it.
It's going to be fun for a few days and you'll get bored of it. Most of the games suck too.
I've played it before then too, and I still have fun with it when I get a chance to play it. My friends who have it like it as well. I'm thinking that most of the hate revolving around it is bandwagon, and that half the people who hate on it have never even used one.
kinects are fucking the best things ever they're fun and you can build helicopters cameras out of them
kinects are fucking the best things ever they're fun and you can build helicopters cameras out of them
Nonono YOU can not. Only the people who understand what they're doing can.
If they release Kinect to windows and license the tech to universities and maybe medical institutions, they'd make a fortune.
If they release Kinect to windows and license the tech to universities and maybe medical institutions, they'd make a fortune.
They need to make kinect pro with better hardware. Current one while not bad, isn't as accurate as it could be.
If it weren't for the Kinect hacks, I highly doubt many Kinects would have even been sold...
Thats true, cause thats the reason I bought it. Though, playing Minecraft with it is a bit awkward. Its alot of fun experimenting with though. So, worth it.
microSHAFT SUCKS
I got if for the sole purpose of misc, that and I don't like motion controls for My PC gaming, if that were the case I hit something in this tight tiny space of a Comp room
