• Steam Games Don't Work After Updating Drivers
    0 replies, posted
Earlier today, I updated my drivers because Steam was like, "Woah update this so you don't have problems." I updated my drivers by going to the link provided and selecting my type of driver (I have an NVidia Geforce FX 5500). Afterwards, I tried launching Portal from Steam. It didn't work. I tried this with all of my games (I only have Source Engine games) and none worked. They all say "Preparing to Launch <game name>" then that goes away, then displays the Valve Logo screen with the neat sound, then the "powered by source" logo with all the normal words beneath. After that, it just goes away. I never get to the main menu of any of the games. I went to Steam support and tried all of the answers, none worked. I never knew updating my drivers could be such a hassle. I also noticed the NVidia logo wasn't in the Notification Tray in the bottom right like it normally is. If anyone can help I would be very thankful. EDIT: Okay, it is not just Steam games. It is really any game that needs a graphics card. I may be able to fix this by doing more research, but please help anyway. Thanks.
