Can anyone the best 1156 motherboard (no price limit). Planning to use the Core i7 980x.
sorry about the wrong socket in the title.
the i7 980x is a LGA 1366 socket.
Just saying, the i7 2600k is better and cheaper than the i7 980x, I recommend getting it instead of that one. The 980x also isn't an LGA1155 socket.
As for the motherboard, this is a good one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130571 although I'm not too good with motherboards.

What? You can't fit that CPU in a 1155 mobo, I think you'll want the i7 2500/2600(k).
Sorry I misread the socket when I saw it.

Quite all right, but still, the 980x is pretty expensive and not worth the price, the i7 2600k is cheaper and faster, I suggest getting it.
Im thinking about getting The Asus Rampage III Extreme, anyone agree?

hmmm Ill look into both cpus
He might already have it. If you don't, I'd go for 2600k or wait for socket 2011.
Refer to this: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/142?vs=287
As you can see, the 980x does perform better in some places, but the 2600k is the better choice overall.
If you already have it, well then that's too bad
I haven't purchased it yet after the delay for bulldozer. So i guess the new question is best mobo for 2600k

Honestly Z68 isn't worth the premium over p67 unless you want to use intel's SSD caching tech. If you do need Z68 then I'd take a look at the Asrock Extreme4. I know some people say Asrock is crap but they're actually very good boards.
Z68 is pretty much the same price as P67 until you get into the ULTRA HIGH-END range (UD5, UD7, P8Z68-PRO, ect). If you were ready to drop $1000 on a 980x you might aswell get something like the P8Z68-Pro with a SSD.

Oh really? I only ever checked the prices back when Z68 launched and the boards were $20-$40 more than p67. Nice to know that they've dropped down in price.
It's only like a $10 difference now, for most of the sub-$200 boards.
I'm very happy with my ASUS P8P67 Pro.
