Wait so does this mean at any convention or tournament that uses xbox ones someone could just walk in, yell "xbox off" over a megaphone or something, and then shut all of them down?

Pffft reminds me of when Vista came out, they were all "Hey look! Voice command! You don't even need to touch the keyboard!" and a bunch of people had a sound file that would play someone saying the Shut Down voice command. You'd think they would have learned then.

Oh man I just remembered Xbone has to go through a 20 minute update on launch day. I'm gonna follow Ashen and get a megaphone and shut off everyone's consoles while they update.

I remember consistently finding ways to freeze 360 and ps3 store demo units back at their release, I can't wait for how this will even be handled with store consoles

Reminds me of my neighbor's smart tv. There's a thin wall between us, so I can just shout 'SMART TV. VOLUME MAXIMUM' and hear his speakers explode. Too bad he turned the reception volume down. Now it doesn't work any more. :(

Also, couldn't they just sticky tape some cotton wool or whatever over the microphone to muffle the PA system and prevent the shutdowns?

It's convenient for it to turn straight off if like you just didn't want to hold the xbox home button in or the power button and leave but seriously it should have a confirmation window

Hang on, in a few years when everyone and their moms are playing CoD 24 on the Xbone, couldn't one of the players just yell "XBOX OFF" to empty the server? Did Microsoft think about this feature in the slightest?

Maybe not on the dev builds but with the final version.
