I've tried everything from 'last good configuration' to 'repair your computer' (why do they even have these when both have no documentation and are defunct on top of that), but that was the last error I got before I was forced into Safe Mode (which I'm still in). Now I get blue screens if I do anything else. Not BSODs, just that driver issue shit. This all started happening after I installed an ATi Radeon HD5770, drivers and all of course. I had it running last night, I played a few games too, although it has shown no visible increase in performance over my previous nVidia 8800GT, other than being a little quieter... Vista 32bit edition. I don't think there's anything else I can tell you. I have Googled this error and it is apparently unique. It is not the 'security center'. I can definitely tell because my theme was forced to Windows Classic and all my icons disappeared. I have tried looking for new drivers. I did not download anything funny, malicious, etc. I don't know what to do now so this is my last resort. If nothing here works I'll be switching back to an nVidia card since I miss the digital vibrance settings. I'm running Combo Fix right now because I keep getting pop-ups even though I'm in safe mode. I'll report back but I doubt it's a virus doing this, even though my mother was the last to use the computer before this shit started and she downloads anything slightly appealing to her.
We think it caught a virus, but the problem is still here. Going to try reinstalling drivers for my card.
run a scan of malware bytes
This happened to me a while back. I was forced to do a clean install, I'm not really sure how it happened in the first place, it just sort of started acting up.
