Didn't they have an entire fundraising campaign thing for it? What is wrong with this game's devs.

The new game they are working on looks really neat.
The fundraising for this game has been ages ago. The game's out for quite some time. They recently had another fundraising for a proper expansion pack, but the goal was way too high and apparently they didn't rake in enough cash. I hope this'll turn into something good, I love NS2.
I had my fun time in NS2, but it didn't last too long. It's a pretty hard game, and on pubs there is not enough co-operation, especially among the Aliens. For example, the Alien Skulks, or dogs as I like to call them, they are supposed to wreak havoc in packs. Like, suddenly just 3-5 of 'em appearing out of fucking nowhere, jumping off walls and ceilings and so on. But in pubs this is hardly possible. Navigating seamlessly around the map as the Alien dogs while simultaneously checking out the map for like-minded team mates is just so hard and then you end up getting splattered by gunfire, yet these little soldiers are crucial to master.

It usually works for me.
Didn't they have an entire fundraising campaign thing for it? Especially when they DID continue releasing free expansions post-release and are choosing to stop.
This is the best thing they can do now. It's a fairly small indie team and they've been supporting the game with free updates for a long time and are now working on a different game.
I loved this game but I'll agree it's incredibly difficult. I got back into it a few months ago and most pub games last about 2minutes before one team surrenders. Once your team stumbles it's incredibly difficult to regain control, especially in pub. It's not much fun to be on the losing side either because you usually end up under-teched and constantly fighting an uphill battle.
From grassroots modding and community, to full-time indie def, and then back to modding community. The game has finally gone full circle. I'm pretty optimistic over this, as it means that they will probably be able to continue to tweak balance numbers and possibly add new stuff. It helps with your survivability as you'll get more kills by attacking the same thing your follow-buddy does, and you'll last longer as your fodder-buddy will also be taking all the aggro. It's still good for him too as he would have died immediately anyways, but because of your guardian angel support, he will live longer! It's a win-win!
Does this mean they're going to put the source on Github or something? :v:
This is fine. I pre-ordered this game ages ago and bought the shadow supporter badge. I feel I got every cent worth of fun out of it and the team should get to work on new things. With the game continuing through community support it can live on.
Didn't they have an entire fundraising campaign thing for it? What is wrong with this game's devs.
UWE has historically relied on donations/fundraising to get projects done. It's basically how they survived from the beginning when they started working on NS1 to the end of NS1 in 2006. They had the constellation system where you donated like $20-25 and got an in-game icon next to your name and sponsors/investors to keep everything afloat.
Didn't they have an entire fundraising campaign thing for it? What is wrong with this game's devs.
When I bought NS2 I was giving them cash for all the time I spent playing NS1 as well. No regrets.
