Isn't the Ukrainian offensive going moderately well? With Russia's partial border withdrawal and apparent refusal to annex them, it seems like it's just a matter of time for the separatists. Maybe.
Anyone got a map so I can have an idea on what the fuck is going on over there?
Glory to Novorossiya

Claimed territory.

Red is area actually controlled. Orange is area with attempted control.
EDIT:

Dark red: Claimed territory under significant control.
Red: Desired territory.
Blue: Russian-controlled Crimea
Even then it's fairly loosely controlled. Ukraine is being really gentle and restrained.
Huh, I've heard of the hammer and sickle before, but hammer and anchor is new to me.
Imagine having to sew that fucking flag holy shit

This is the official flag. The flag in the OP just has the coat of arms over it.
I know it was mentioned in another thread, but:

Because a picture was necessary for us to recognize that it is similar to the Confederate flag..

There are only so many combinations of red, white and blue you can make.
Unless a central government is formed, would that not be a confederate state? The flag seems to imply at the whole confederacy thing anyways.

I wonder what Russians will think of being 'Old Russia' haha

They are a confederal republic, so yes..a confederacy/confederation.

Just that OP said Federal in the title, so that was a bit confusing.

and most of them don't have a St. Andrew's Cross

There are all sorts of variants of the Hammer and Sickle, typically to reflect local industry. East Germany, for example, used a pair of compasses instead of a sickle. The 'independent' Far Eastern Republic of the 1920s used an anchor. Gear segments are also popular, to represent further industrialisation.

That's the official name, but it is a confederacy of the two states entering into a federal arrangement.

That makes no sense, unless you're implying the two states were already in a confederacy before this new state was formed and are now authorising powers to a central government.

That is what I am implying.

All things considered it would make a lot more sense if they just dropped the pretense and went with

It's pretty obvious that's their end goal.
I doubt any sort of moderately creditable global institution in the West will actually recognize their legitimacy of sovereignty.
Saying you are a state does not make it so. :eng101:

And look at them next to Russia, with those colors, I bet they're in cahoots those damn commies.
The east will rise again!
I hope they die.
It must suck to be a Geographer these days.
