• My mother's abnormal drinking habits

My mother have always had a little bit of red wine on the weekends, just one glass no biggie. Like every other Friday, maybe one on Saturday too. No worries about that, why should I care? But lately she's been drinking more and more often, and more and more heavily. Instead of just drinking one glass of whine, she might have 2 or 3 glasses of whine, with some beer and maybe some cider ontop of that. She recently picked up drinking on week days, like today she's had 3 glasses of whine and one beer and she's drunk out of her mind. She's a small woman, she can't take that much. Normally, this wouldn't trouble me but we do have alcoholics in the family, from what I know her dad and her granddad were both heavy drinkers. When I approach her about it, she refuses to listen and often just picks up another subject. I'm actually pretty worried she might get stuck in it, which would be devastating. She has friends who are heavy drinkers. Now, I'm not saying she drinks every day, not at all. Maybe 2 or 3 times a week, but this has increased so drastically over the last few months that I am starting to worry. How should I approach her about it, Facepunch?
she might have 2 or 3 glasses of whine,
Sounds like you in this thread, OP
Act before it's too late, Alcoholics are great liar's especially to them them selves, and alcoholisim is tough. Talk to an adult that you can trust and that you will know will take it seriously.
Call her an alcoholic and show her a page about the negative effects of alcohol
Talk to her constantly about the subject If you truly love your mom, don't fucking give up
if she provides for you and your possible siblings, don't judge her habits when she is off duty if it drives her off the road, then it is a problem [editline]15th October 2010[/editline] a kid preaching how his adult mother cant drink might piss her off good. [editline]15th October 2010[/editline]
Call her an alcoholic and show her a page about the negative effects of alcohol
oh she must have no idea about the effects.. we never came to a conclusion that his mother is ignorant

I'm not going to waltz in there like a fucking obnoxious kid and hate on her, I wanna try approach her a little more gentle because of course I love my mother. Worried, that's all.
Tell someone else in your family that you can trust about it.
Sounds like you in this thread, OP
You insensitive fuck. :saddowns:
Find out where she keeps her stash, then transfer all of it to the attic when she's not home.
Stop whining about it and confront her about the wine.
My mother was a meth addict and I haven't seen her since I was 5, so I dunno how to help you here. :v: I'd just approach her and tell her that she's only hurting herself by doing this as alcohol is a depressant. She's hurting herself by getting possible liver damage, her body probably can't handle all that alcohol since you said she's small. Good luck! :ohdear:

If your mother is as passionate about wine as my mother then she has one of those nice steel coolers with all the bottles in it. It's not bad if you don't overdo it* Then again, all of my family are alcoholics and they just turned out fine. And by fine I mean arrested for six counts of DUI and loss of a well paying job, domestic abuse and the crashing of two 10,000$ cars. Take the wine. Break it. Break it all.
My mom is drunk every night and cries about how she has no money but its her own fault for buying cases of beer every night. Couldnt handle it!
My dad used to drink until he almost killed himself. He never drinks beer or a pint a liquor again. Warn your mom that drinking to much CAN KILL YOU.
The best thing to do for now is just to keep bringing it up. Not in the annoying kind of way. Just a casual disapproval of what she's doing. If it keeps getting worse, talk to a trusted family member that won't gossip about it.
Get her some professional help. Her drinking problem will get much worse over time if you don't.
Challenge her to Beer Pong. See how she does. Make a bet with her as well. She loses, she has to give up wine for the week (which will be the first step towards recovery). She wins, buy her a nice bottle.
Drink whine err' day.
Introduce her to the wonders of Vodka, comrade!
Ugh, I'm so tired, I glanced over the thread title and had to blink and look again because I could have sworn it said "My mother's aboriginal drinking habits."
Holy shit why are you people bolding the punchlines of your shitty puns?
Mine wasn't a pun and I only see one pun in this thread that's bolded.

My dad's an alcoholic and it started the same way. A beer or two every once and a *WHILE. Then a few beers on weekdays, then all the way to a fifth of vodka every day. He'd leave work early to drink himself into a stupor. He only got better after going to an extremely expensive treatment center, so I suggest you try and fix it before it gets to that.

Lets just delete the fucking blogs altogether
Lets just delete the fucking blogs altogether
It's a thread specifically asking for help with a problem. Don't be a dipshit.
Once in a while*
It's 1 AM, excuse me.
