I'm scanning all my grandpa's old projector slides to to my computer for a little money. when I switched over to windows 7 (64-bit) nikon scan says that its unable to find any active scan devices even though the scanner shows up in device manager and the drivers are installed. the scanner is a nikon super coolscan 5000 ed. I'm running windows 7 in a dual harddrive configuration with 7 on a 160gb and just about everything else on a 1tb nikon scan is version is 4.0.2 i need to get at least 1000 slides done before christmas to distribute as gifts and then i have 2000 more to do after that. thank you for your help.
Try using other software to scan. As long as the scanner is installed, you don't necessarily need the Nikon software to use the scanner.
i probably shouldve added this in the original message but the scanner is in device manager and the driver is supposedly installed its that the driver and the scanner dont recognize each other
