8800GT to 5870 - Hardware & Software

I don't know is this sounds silly or not. But would going to this card make a big impact on my frame rate? Would you suggest it? Because I'm saving up some money and by christmas I should have about £420. Is the upgrade worth it?

Yes definitely. However, you should be sure that no other parts will be bottlenecking it.

It's not going to bottleneck. And it will be a massive upgrade.

Fuck, I remember having computers that had less space than that in both primary and secondary memory. Now VRAM is dominating them.

I went from a 9800GTX+ to a 5870 and I can say the difference is definitely noticeable. The biggest change you'll notice is the huge drop in power consumption and heat output, save a few bucks a year on your power bill, Lol.

It depends on what games you want to play but personally I'd wait.

Would this be fine for me too? I've got same specs as OP but the Q6600 running at stock, 2.4 GHz
