Man caught on CCTV 'dumping' limping pet dog in Dorset - Polidicks

The footage was taken on a camera at offices owned by British Marine Technology in Weymouth last Friday. The council is trying to rehome the dog, named Ginger, and trying to find the man. The footage shows him getting into a rear seat of the car, suggesting at least two other people were present at the time. Ginger, a Shetland cross terrier and about eight years old, was collected by wardens from Weymouth and Portland Borough Council. "It may have been an old person's dog who had died and the new owners didn't want her or maybe someone thought she would cost lots in vets' bills. "But she is in fine health, absolutely beautiful and has settled in really well. "I have spoken to the RSPCA who said they will be seeking prosecution." The maximum sentence for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is six months in prison and a £20,000 fine. The man seen on the CCTV is described as white, about 6ft tall, and he was wearing blue jeans and a brown top. That just broke my heart, because I have a dog roughly the same age, looks almost the same as that dog, and even (had) a limp due to a torn ligament :saddowns:

Personally I am not angry at the one who did it. No violence was done to dog, and it was found and is now going to get a new home. Sure the owner did bad, but there's nothing that would even remotely deserve jail or "omgomg rip his guts out and then rape his corpse"

I like if a Human is killed no one here gives a fuck but if an animal dies everyone throws a shitstorm

Seriously, putting a cat in a bin for 15 hours got a lot more anger from Facepunch then someone [I]abandoning their injured dog[/I], and what makes it worse is that the dog probably was their pet for years.

He shouldn't be allowed to keep another pet ever again. I'm pretty sure that's the normal punishment. To be honest what he did is no worse than what's done all the time by dog dumpers, but seeing it in action just made it all the more tragic.
