The eight-ounce ruggedized plastic package is MIL-STD 810G tested for durability and holds a 600MHz ARM Cortex A8 processor, 256MB of memory, 8GB flash storage and a 3.5-inch, 800 x 480 "glove-friendly" and "sunlight readable" touchscreen display. That's only about as powerful as your average consumer smartphone, but you're not going to be painting targets on your Nexus One, we suppose.
Straight from Engadget. Looks pretty promising. Keep in mind, General Dynamics makes, well, a lot for the US military. Like the Abrams. Hope this thing reaches the public too, seeing as it's smexy. A ruggedized, satellite based, SMS/MMS/Data capable portable device could do waves for any armed force.
:science:
Does it play classic music from the 40s/50s?
Awesome, I'm so buying one
3.5-inch, 800 x 480 "glove-friendly" and "sunlight readable" touchscreen display.
Probably a trans-reflective resistive touchscreen like on the N900. (capacitive needs special gloves to be used with any) Come to think about it, all of the specs resemble the N900, except the 8GB memory. /neerrrd
Can you strap it to your arm? If so I'm totally giving it a re-paint job to look like a proper pip-boy.
Glove friendly and sunlight-readable? :buddy:
I wonder if it tells you if your head is crippled. Cus you know, you need to be informed of that.
Looks more like an Opsat from Splinter Cell in my opinion.
Does it magically emit light in a 50 foot radius
Can it put my pants on?
Better yet, can it organize my back pack and pockets to maximize ammo and food space? And tell me exactly what all the weird pills do.
woah i was just playing fallout
I hope it runs Froyo. Just got 2.2 for my (non-root) phone although I had to force it. This is pretty cool stuff though.
does it detect my body structure's health and radiation levels as well as keeping tabs on my amount of currency along with my daily tasks
that sucks because android is a buggy asshole most the time.

looks like.... a really pip device xD
Can I put an Unlimited ammount of ammo in it?
Can it store hundreds of pounds of equipment and miscellaneous items, and tell me how much good or bad karma I have?
Does it track nearest Pizza huts in US military camps? :downs:
Just as I clicked this thread, Butcher Pete started playing :v:
nice
Oh look
Yar, I be settin' mine to play pirate jingles!
Man, this thing is just one step below implanting a phone into one's body, and two steps below implanting a communications chip into one's brain. I gotta get me one of these.
Can I put an Unlimited ammount of ammo in it?
Warfare will never be the same: ~ > killall CLEAR!
Looks pretty neat, but I would not wear it in public really.
