I am currently looking at both of these cards and am debating which one is better for the money, I see that the 4890 gets better FPS, but the 5770 is $30-$20 cheaper and has DX11. I really need some help on this decisions. :saddowns:
Thanks in advance.
Get the 5770 and overclock it.
what res?
1680x1050
5770 should be fine
Bro you getting nowhere on that P4 :v: I forgot to reply to that thread on WCS. Oops
How well does it run most of the recent games?
the 5770? depends, since recent games vary a lot, you cant really say

Lol Hex, you're making a statement that relates to a post on a completely different thread. I already looked and my processor beats the recommended requirements for most games, and with my current motherboard the best I can get is a Core2duo/quad. Which I don't know is worth the money.
my processor beats the recommended requirements
because "recommended requirements" are so accurate and reliable
Haha, I have to agree with you on that one, but I only have enough money for a GPU unless the Core2duos are worth it.
4890.
Pros: Better performance, easily overclocked, cheaper.
5770.
Pros: Less power consumption, DX11 (unneeded), Eyefinity.
Pick.
If anything, wait for the 5830. Speculated to perform at par or better than the 4890, but w/ DX11 and all that. Supposed price is to be less than $200
I'm probably wrong but wasn't the 4770 better than the 4830 and thus it is logical that the 5770 is better than the 5830

Not sure, though, like I said...it is speculated to perform at par with or better than the 4890. Read this.

Speculation means complete jackshit with hardware.

First of all, the 5770 is cheaper and Eyefinity is useless to me. I guess I'm going to go with the 5770.
Am I making a good choice? Though I might wait for the 5830.
Here are the facts:
Cheapest 5770: $157. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131328&cm_re=ati_5770-_-14-131-328-_-Product

I'd get the 4890.

That makes a lot of sense. Sorry, last I checked the 4890 was cheaper.

The 4770 is on par with the 4850.

Just below it actually.

I would get a 5770. They consume much less power and run very cool.

Give or take 2 frames.
At what settings will I be able to run Crysis with it with good FPS at 1680x1050 with a 5770?
[editline]11:41PM[/editline]
I know it's a dumb question, but I like my GFX :downs:
i currently have
Athlon x2 64 2.9 Ghz
and a 5770 and 3 gigs of ram
Running crysis on High with DX 10 features and my res is 1280x1024.
about 25-55 fps
Averages about 35-50 fps in foresty scenes. during the beach scenes is about 25-35.
I guess a 5770 would have to be my choice.
It's a really good card for it's price.
Did you completely ignore my post? The 4890 gets nearly 10 FPS more at 1680 x 1050 in Crysis. 10 FPS means a lot when you're getting <40 FPS.

Would you kindly let me in on the secret that makes hot cards worse than cool cards, and anyone with a half-assed 500W power supply can run a 4890.

Heat kills computer parts

Not computer parts that are made to handle the heat. Move along.
