Royal Mail is to trial a Sunday delivery service for parcels in response to the increasing demand for goods ordered online.

Hopefully other parcel services will follow
They should really have a night shift of postmen as well, with the increase of goods ordered online, since aside from weekends, the parcels and stuff are delievered in working hours which, if you're working, you end up missing the delivery and have to go and collect the bloody thing anyway.
NO POST ON SUNDAYS
(not gonna post the image Ive got enough macro bans as it is thank you)

As useless as Yodel are, the ones around me will deliver in the evening if you aren't at home in the day (because they get paid per parcel they deliver, so it's worth it)
Plus RM were going to do a thing where they would always leave it at a neighbours unless you opted out, so you wouldn't need to collect it from the sorting office
We dont even get on saturdays except for the paper, it's goddamn annoying.

A question for all of you that work in foreign offices - can't you order stuff to your office postal address and take it home with you? Or are there, like, company policies in place that block that sort of thing. Of course, I'm only talking about packages which are manageable in size and not a fucking TV or whatever.

I have to agree with this, having ended severe heat stroke and ended up almost unconscious in a pool of my own vomit in order to go and pick up a package that I wasn't in to accept at the time.. which wasn't even back at the post office anyway when I went.
Nothing says 'the postal service wants you dead' like stumbling back to your house and exploding in a spray of half-digested tuna sandwich and water, sweat-drenched 'Sorry, you weren't in!' slip still clutched in your dying, twisted claw.
Depends on the company really, some could, some won't.

Plus you know, it doesn't help that you have no fucking idea when your parcel will arrive, so you can't just take a day off to recieve it, thats why I like UKMail, if you're not in, they leave a note telling you that they were there and, automatically, at no extra cost, try delivering it again the next day.

Depends on the office, I send big stuff (such as TVs) to the office because we have a proper delivery bay. But if you're ordering something private you don't want everyone in the office asking what's in your parcel..

Oh that's nice, I was wondering if people would be like "no, it's against company policy to have personal items delivered to the office or something".
As for people asking me what I order, I usually couldn't give a shit and either straight up tell 'em what it is or just say "stuff" and they get the hint.
praise the mail gods
Only parcelforce is doing it, which I rarely ever see as an option on online retailers.

And when it is an option, it's an extra £10 or something daft

Someone has to do it first
