• FRAPS - Am I meant to purchase?

I downloaded FRAPS but I can only record 30 seconds. Bear with me, I'm new to this whole recording gameplay stuff. So, how do I record more than 30 seconds? Is it because a downloaded free version only allows 30 seconds or am I meant to change a setting?
The free version of fraps only allows the recording of 30seconds at once. If you want to record without limits, then you have to use a different software or buy fraps.
Thanks for the reply. I tried another software called "Game Cam". But now there's a new problem. I can't even record. The hot keys don't work for me. It says "Home" is record and "Page down" will save the recording. But none of the hot keys work while in game. I'm not sure what the reason is for this...
I'm an avid user of FRAPS and I'd like to say that I like it so I bought it. Also takes pictures and such while you're playing.
Yeah I agree that FRAPS honestly seems like the top option for recording gaming footage. But the thing is, I'm not refusing to buy it to be "cheap" ... it's just that I want to record gameplay footage out of general interest from time to time to re-watch for the sake of re-watching. So spending money to do something from time to time for the sake of it doesn't seem worth it. So I'm just looking for alternatives. In the end, if there is no other choice and I feel like "oh what the hell.." I might purchase it.
How about DXtory?
Fraps is the best application recorder software out there so of course it's not the cheapest one. The full version of Fraps has no lenght limit, no Fraps watermark, and more options. I've tested out many recorders before when I first started to make videos, and I gotto say Fraps is the most user-friendliest and best quality. And as I said it's not the cheapest one but trust me, it IS worth it!
Dxtory is probably better, just a lot harder to figure out how to work
I actually ended up buying FRAPS and I don't regret it at all. Like I said, I'm not a big video uploader guy, in fact I have never and don't plan on showing my footage, I just wanted to record it out of personally re-watching it. Despite this, I still bought FRAPS and I'm enjoying it a lot. But I will still check out Dxtory, I have never heard of it, but the more the merrier, so I'd like to experiment with it. I still got a question with FRAPS though, is there a way to get rid of the frame rate on the top corner of the screen in recordings? I see in the "screenshot" options, it has the option to choose to turn that off and on but I don't see it in the "movies" options.
As far as I know when you turn it off in the screenshot option it turns it off all together. If not though, I know there's definitely a setting to turn it off
