It looks interesting.
It also looks like a survival game.
The lead dev in the article talks about wanting players to "Matt Damon themselves" to survival as if they're in the film The Martian, but it's so obvious that this isn't that sort of game. This is Mars Sci-fi Survival: Videogame, where you build mechs and beat up on some aliens. It is also fun looking.
I just don't like the how the lead developer is crying for attention with his BS about how his survival game is better than all the others.

The dev is giving me a 'Phil Fish' sorta vibe.
Well, this dev is an real hypocrite because this is what i call a survival games.
A survival games don't have to have a thirst/food system to be a survival games.
I considers Metro a linears survival game storyline based
at the risk of incurring clickbait vibes, it looks like the creators of 'The Martian' decided to remake half of No Man's Sky, this is wild
and also while it's most definitely a survival game, I'm always interested when someone declares they dislike X but then take a stab at the genre. One could say they have a strange idea of what X is and don't realize they're doing it, but on the other hand they could also be going headlong into it to try and fix the genre, because they don't like the way games currently handle it but the concept itself is something they'd love to do

Quake 2 is also a survival game. One lone soldier, trapped behind enemy lines, scavenging for stimpacks and ammo left behind by his fallen comrades to fight off the enemy and try to survive.

Good point you made there. I still stand by my point tought, you can't just tell me that metro isn't a survival games. It's pretty unforgiving in high difficulty.
The quake difficulty goes from easy as fuck to bullshit ultra spongy unfun to fight enemy.
