• Graphics card wont run any 3d applications

So here's the story. My friend asked my to put in a new video card inside his computer because his old ones fan stopped working, it was slow and old. So i ordered a 550ti (it was the best what i could get for his budget) and when I installed it and the drivers everything worked fine except his games. He tried playing NBA 2k13 and it would run fine until the actual match started (where 3d models come in place) then his pc would restart, he tried f1 2012 and again the cutscenes played but when the game started the pc restarted. At first i suspected that it was a PSU problem because it was unknown brand 400w one. So i put in my own psu and now the pc wont even start the games. It just shows a black screen when you start the game or the game just crashes. My second thought was the card had defects so I put my own card it is also a 550ti and the same problem still persisted, none of the games even ran. I'm completely lost. The pc works fine but my friend loves playing games so I kind of need to fix this
Have you completely re-installed Windows when installing the new card? As far as I know no matter what you do to get rid of the drivers there always remain traces in the registry and other parts.
Your PSU cant handle the 550TI on full load. [editline]7th July 2013[/editline] Post your model and wattage please.
As taipan wrote, the problem when your computer reboots running games is because the computer is getting overheated, either the PSU cant handle the card you did not connect the GPU to the PSU.
