• Intermittent Disconnection of internet

Howdy Facepunch, been having a problem the past month with the internet intermittently switching on and off by itself at different times, sometimes it switches back on and sometimes it doesn't. BT line has tested fine and AOL has sent a new router and filter box but still experiencing the problem. Have had the same set-up for 8 years but only for the past month have I been having this problem. Anybody have any ideas as to the solution to this problem?
Your network card could be going bad, but to debug can you tell us if your ip changes whenever you lose internet (start->run->cmd.exe->ipconfig)? If you have a network card try to find drivers for it and install them, if you're using your onboard networking then try to update your BIOS.

The internet bar on my router will only turn red while the others are green while the internet is down.
Ah, disregard the network card broken theory. So you've been switched routers and modems? It could simply be your provider that is letting you lose internet. Make sure all your cords are in tight and give AOL a call and tell them you'll leave them if this doesn't get fixed.

It's been simply a "Lets reconfigure your router bro" response. I also tried the leaving stance and they sent me a new router. Fat lot of good its been doing..
