A six-year-old girl who sent her tooth fairy money to David Cameron said she wanted to help him "make the country better and pay for jobs".
Niamh Riley from Irlam, Greater Manchester, wrote to the Prime Minister earlier this year after hearing about the economic plight.
The excited youngster watched on television as the Tory leader hailed her contribution to deficit reduction efforts in his keynote speech to the party's conference in Birmingham.
"I got a letter from a six-year-old girl called Niamh with a pound coin stuck to it," he told activists - hailing her as a figurehead for his "Big Society" vision.
As he appealed to the nation to "pull together" to help get through the financial crisis, he went on: "There was a note from her mum which said: Dear Mr Cameron ... after hearing about the budget, Niamh wanted to send you her tooth fairy money to help.
"There we are, George - nearly there," he joked to Chancellor George Osborne.
Niamh's mother Regina, 29, set the television to record the speech but in the end a playground accident meant the young donor was able to watch it live with her family.
"I was running and I slipped over between two puddles. It is still stinging but I got to watch David Cameron. I was really excited. I did not think he was going to mention my name," she said.
"I heard about it (the state of the economy) and I wanted to write a letter. I wanted him to get the letter with the pound to make the country better and pay for jobs.
Asked how she thought Mr Cameron's Government was doing on that score, she said: "He is really good. He is brave to stand up in front of all those people."
Wow, that's just......wow.
She won't be smiling when he takes away her families' child benefit.
And when those new teeth grow through in an unusual position she'll want braces. I wonder if they'll still be free by the time that happens?
Wow, she will be a political bitch when she's older...
I'm confused, was he making fun of her?
Whats up with the red mark on the head huh?
Poor little girl doesn't know he's fucking her over.
Even though I don't agree with a lot of Cameron's views, that is... oddly adorable.
David Cameron.
Breaking children's smiles since 2005
Don't know why you all have to get so political about this, both are helping the country.
Shes eager to pay taxes...

Holy shit, braces are free in your country? :frown:
I hate it when politicians try and use kids to gain support.
It's just wrong.

Basic braces, yes.

I dunno maybe it's because he is a politician?

Conservatives? Children? Helping? I think you're tripping.

This, pretty much. He's using her as an anchor for his 'Big society' idea which has seems to have no clue about. What is he actually going to do. That's what really pisses me off about him.

I'm pretty sure there's a guy on here who has a fetish for Thatcher.
I can't remember his username, but he was going around with the old Tory logo as an avatar back during the 2010 General Election.
Its funny because my dad looses his child benefit since he earns over £40k a year, yet in a house where the joint salary of two people is way over £40k, they get to keep it because the highest earner earns less than £40k. Its fucking stupid, I hope Cameron doesn't last the next election.
Haha, nice.

I lived in England for two years, and I saw barely any people with braces...
You guys should just stop having dentists, they're terrible
I hate the way people don't work for their money. I come from a hard working family. My Dad worked all his life and now he finally is the boss. Gladly that means he is exempt from the government cuts. Our family is hard working and it pisses me off that my dad, me and two other unlucky sods have to pay tax to keep these lazy fucks on their sky subscription and four Guinness every night... :argh:

I was wondering how long it would be before someone would come along and take the charm out of this story.

I think somebody needs to stop reading The Sun and the Daily Mail.
But that is the way it is. And I don't read the Sun or The Mail. I read the Telegraph.

If that's how you think it is, I doubt you've ever spoken to a poor person let alone know what you're even talking about.
Oh don't get me wrong, there are many genuine cases of people that need the money and who have had a tough time. However there are some out there who can't be arsed to get off their arses and give benefits a bad rep.

Absolutely, there are people who abuse the system, but anyone who thinks that there are millions of people pumping out babies to get a house, or thousands of people laughing to the bank wasting 'billions and billions of pounds' as they drink cheap beer and smoke is just absurd.
When I was younger and my father lost his job, we had to live on child tax credits and the welfare state to eat. We could barely afford the TV licence let alone pay for sky TV or alcohol (We don't drink, but that's not the point). We ate meal deals every day for about 6 months. Not having a job while you have a family is extremely unpleasant.
