Can't say I would have done the same.
No reward? Aww.
Damn he got some willpower.
I am pretty sure people get less selfish the more poor they are. You can't survive by yourself if you are dirt poor, you need people. The richer you are the more of an entitled prick you become.

Did you learn your stereotypes from Saturday morning cartoons?

This is childishly naive.

There are lots of wealthy people who have done a lot of good things?
dude could have lived fairly comfortably with that for at least a year.
damn.

'fairly comfortably' what about the guilt weighing down on him
I mean that's someone else's backpack

Spend some of the money to lighten the weight of the backpack then.
There are lots of wealthy people who have done a lot of good things?
True, but there aren't many who gave up the equivelent of >1000% of their income because it was 'the right thing to do'.

lets be real, it's a rarity to even think about moral consequences when you're struggling to get by and you basically get the equivalent of a fortune out of nowhere

lol i'm strictly referring to it financially. like, renting an apartment, food, clothes, etc. whether it is right or wrong is a different discussion.
Backpacks aren't often filled with ridiculous amounts of cash so I think it's safe to assume he thought it was something illegal and didn't want to get in trouble.

'what's a joke'
I know he could've, and I wouldn't be surprised if he took out a small bit of cash. I mean, I would.
I would turn it over to the police, but I would take the cash before. Or at least a bit of it.

Or he's a good person.
I'd prefer to believe that.

you're not an "entitled prick" just because you don't give all your money away. it's good for rich people to give something back but they're not obliged to, insulting them because they don't give huge sums of money away is silly

good joke there bud

Because lots of people never have the chance to have more than 1000 percent of their income in their hands

If everybody gave away everything, nobody would need anything.

im pretty sure it's actually biologically programmed in human beings to hoard
generally speaking, the more things you have that can help you live, the better your chances of survival. altruism and selflessness seems to be more of a byproduct of society if anything

last week I found a wallet with 60$ in it, but there were no papers or identity cards. Literally just money.
am I a bad person if I kept the money?

I'm sure altruism and selflessness does have some evolutionary background though. Like it would make sense in social structures of a social species.

Are you like 15 and going through your love and peace phase?
I probably wouldnt have done that, I mean, sure the guy did a good deed, but hes trying to get by, and taking some money from the bag would have probably helped him
For all we know he took some cash before returning the rest
Why do so many people leave behind backpacks and duffel bags full of cash? I feel like that's something you'd remember to grab.
