I am pretty sure people get less selfish the more poor they are. You can't survive by yourself if you are dirt poor, you need people. The richer you are the more of an entitled prick you become.

Backpacks aren't often filled with ridiculous amounts of cash so I think it's safe to assume he thought it was something illegal and didn't want to get in trouble.

Why do so many people leave behind backpacks and duffel bags full of cash? I feel like that's something you'd remember to grab.
