AT&T will give you a new SIM if you tell them yours doesn't work. They usually only do this once. Just tell them that your phone security locked you out and burned the SIM when you tried to enter the passcode and got it wrong.
That happened to me once and they replaced it for me free of charge. If you get the passcode wrong, it'll totally destroy the SIM, leaving it unusable.
Protip: Keep your phone on your person. Leaving it in your backpack is asking to get it stolen be it from your sibling or someone at school.
