The girl's new moniker was inspired by a button which allows users to express their endorsement of photos, status updates and links. Lior Alder and his wife Vardit live in the town of Hod Hasharon just outside Tel Aviv and said they wanted a name for their daughter that was 'modern and innovative'. They succeeded in choosing an original name, with their child reportedly the first and only person in the country with the name 'Like'. "In our opinion it's the modern equivalent of the name Ahava [Love]," Adler told Israeli newspaper Maariv. "It's just my way of saying to my fantastic daughter, 'Love'." The most common names for girls in Israel are Noa, Maya and Tamar, according to the Haaretz newspaper. The parents have a fondness for innovative names. One of their daughters is named Pie — after the popular British food, while their other daughter is named Vash, which is honey in Hebrew. Reaction to his daughter's name has been mixed, Adler said. "When I posted her picture and name on Facebook I got 40 'likes'," he said. "Considering that I have only a little more than 100 friends on the network that's a lot." Not everyone was keen on the name and some friends "simply didn't believe it," Adler said. "I believe there will be people who will lift an eyebrow ... but it is my girl and that's what's fun about it."
I don't like this.
Poor girl.
One of their daughters is named Pie — after the popular British food,
Oh fuck's sake.
while their other daughter is named Vash, which is honey in Hebrew.
Well okay, that one's alright.
'modern and innovative'
Naming your baby ''Like'' is a modern and innovative way of showing that you're an idiot.
Didn't some guy from the middle east name his son Facebook or Twitter? I forgot what
The only name I agree with from this family is Vash. Other than that, this family is insane, and their daughters will pay the price in the future. Literally, since I'm sure they will all legally change their names when they are older.
"Like! I don't like you anymore!" that would be awkward.

Like the Kike oh god
"So dude, I heard you like.... Like, like like Like... Is that true? 'Cuz thats like, totally awesome" Such a retarded idea. There are hundreds of weird names that can actually be names and they name her something this stupid...

Reminds me of the guys who named their kids Dovahkiin. Except they also gave him a second name, Dovahkiin is an awesome name on its own and they got a fuckload of great games for doing this.
Didn't some guy from the middle east name his son Facebook or Twitter? I forgot what
While its still a silly name, at least this can be considered somewhat legitimate. During the Arab Spring social networking sites helped protestors mobilize and spread information and images quickly throughout the revolutionary movements as well as worldwide to garner support. It can be argued that they were vital in the success of the various revolutions. Its sort of the equivalent of people in the past naming their children after heroes or kings.
feel bad for the kid fuck this stupid society
That family is full of idiots, and I feel much sympathy for those poor, poor children
It doesn't sound that bad. (think of Laika, Leica, ...)
It doesn't sound that bad. (think of Laika, Leica, ...)
Those are decent names, but Like by itself is a word, and a word doesn't make a good name because it leads to confusion, and it's not even a noun, it's a verb!
I think that later on down the road, this child will not Like her name.. Poor girl.
Wasn't there someone from Israel who also named their baby 'Facebook'? Maybe that became the father *rimshot*

Rose Violet Dick Nick Just take a look at this page http://www.behindthename.com/names/usage/english I think Like is not so bad, it's just that the idea behind it is a bit odd.
Like, seriously?

You don't get it.
I'm gonna name my son Maximillian. If I have a daughter, same name. They'll be so fucking badass. :v:
Too bad their last name isn't Cox
Too bad their last name isn't Cox
Oh, I love Cox!
No, Like is a stupid ass name. You don't get it.
Explain.
Their daughter will probably eat your shield so watch out
Whenever people give their kids stupid ass names like this it makes me want to hit them.
I don't get that. My names Clinton and EVERY fucking person over 20 I meet say "OH! Like the president!?". Yes. I'm an Australian boy named after a past American President... I think for my kids I'll just write random letters and nickname them. "vnurei" Done. But I probably named it after something hey.
