I don't think so. I have one too and the two cards a practically neck and neck. In most benchmarks I've seen it goes R9 390 > RX 480 > GTX 970 in performance, with some variations.

In summary for people, they basically pushed the power draw from the slot to the 6pin, which has much higher capacity than even "spec"
