I don’t know what the heck it was. A bunch of people like bouncing around and doing strange things. It was terrible.” Donning a gold-embellished jacket and black leotard, Beyoncé took to the field alongside Coldplay and Bruno Mars late Sunday in Santa Clara, Calif., at halftime of the showdown between the Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos. The pop and R&B star’s backing dancers were “dressed in attire that paid tribute to the Black Panthers and, by extension, the Black Lives Matter movement that Beyoncé sings about on the new cut,” Entertainment Weekly wrote of the performance. “This is football, not Hollywood — and I thought it was really outrageous that [Beyoncé] used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her, and protect us, and keep us alive,” Giuliani said on Monday. “What we should be doing in the African-American community and all communities is build up respect for police officers and focus on the fact that when something does go wrong, okay, we’ll work on that. But the vast majority of police officers risk their lives to keep us safe,” the 2008 GOP presidential candidate said.
What a tart
"doing strange things" he sounds like he's talking about aliens or something
bouncing around like some sorta... dancers
"This is football, not Hollywood" Gee, I wonder if he's seen literally any other fucking half-time show. I don't suppose he wants the performance to be carried out by football players or something?
"This is football, not Hollywood" Gee, I wonder if he's seen literally any other fucking half-time show. I don't suppose he wants the performance to be carried out by football players or something?
the half time show at the super bowl is rather over the top to be fair. Also as far as half time shows go, I'm pretty sure they're restricted to Pro-football
half time shows happen in high school and ncaa level football games too so it's not an unusual thing. obvs the super bowl half time is gonna be the biggest and best because it's pro football championship but half time shows have been a thing for a long time has this mayor ever seen a game of football idk
"This is football, not Hollywood"
idk, with all the antics that's been happening lately it's hard to differentiate the two. Deflating balls, assault apologists, a vast increases in brain damage % from the previous year, billions in revenue but still wont assist in stadium construction, etc.
I think he's referring to the fucking absurd costumes and the shitty pop music. Why don't we have a rock band in there? It's football it's supposed to be tough, why do we have all these pussy pop groups in there? And who the hell is dressing these people? The outfits look ridiculous.
they are artists that are extremely popular and currently relevant and there is nothing wrong with the outfits because they are showmen and sometimes showmen have their costumes made for them by professionals according to their show and performance plans there have been rock bands who perform at the half time show in the past, but the production varies in who performs and who is available [editline]8th February 2016[/editline] for reference, last year was katy perry, lenny kravitz, and missy elliot they like to mix up their performers to get a decent variety and it's just dependent on who is available to perform
I think he's referring to the fucking absurd costumes and the shitty pop music. Why don't we have a rock band in there?
The Red Hot Chili Peppers played the super bowl 2 years ago, what are you talking about?
Halftime shows aren't a big draw for a lot of artists because they don't actually pay them for playing (but they do cover expenses for production etc.)
I think he's referring to the fucking absurd costumes and the shitty pop music. Why don't we have a rock band in there? It's football it's supposed to be tough, why do we have all these pussy pop groups in there?
Black empowerment is pretty tough.
It's football it's supposed to be tough, why do we have all these pussy pop groups in there?
FYI this makes you sound unbelievably insecure. Pop artists are chosen because the superbowl is literally the most popular, mainstream thing on American TV.
football isn't nearly as tough as the injury-prone and unsafe practice that is cheerleading
football isn't nearly as tough as the injury-prone and unsafe practice that is cheerleading
Cheerleaders may be injury-prone but if you're talking about "toughness" I think that guys that are 200+ pounds of solid muscle slamming into eachother as hard as they can to the point of concussion is pretty "tough"

Didn't she do the black power salute thing? Tbh don't be saluting for black, white, or purple power in public
Didn't she do the black power salute thing? Tbh don't be saluting for black, white, or purple power in public
It's black history month in the US isn't it? She's showing historic pride in the civil rights struggle. That salute has a well-known place in sporting events:
if they didn't wear safety gear then we'd be talking
You must be joking, Football is incredibly tough. [editline]8th February 2016[/editline]
I think he's referring to the fucking absurd costumes and the shitty pop music. Why don't we have a rock band in there? Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney , U2 x 2, Prince etc
if they didn't wear safety gear then we'd be talking
hhaahahaah frontline combat is for fucking pussies because theyre wearing armor and shit lmao cheerleading is pretty rough yeah but its dumb to pass off football because they have "safety gear" last time i checked a car crash didn't become completely harmless just because it had airbags, or getting shot isn't fucking painful just because your vest stopped it. both are still very dangerous additionally all the safety gear does is encourage people to throw themselves at each other more. i read somewhere that injuries have actually increased from the use of safety gear, but not sure how trustworthy that was in football you have a shit ton of shocks and impulses-- no safety gear keeps anybody completely safe from that. a lot of people come out of it with all sorts of problems

With gloves, its a lot harder to temper yourself cause it doesn't -feel- like you hit them hard, since gear was introduced deaths rose
Me: "What, is this guy like 80 years old or something?" *actually googles Rudy Gulliani*

I think her half time show being targeted as a black panther movement is completely racist. There is totally a double standard in america that if it is black-on-white racism then it is fine. I agree that many of our cops need new checks and balances, but to promote a group that promotes violence is completely out of line and everybody acts like Beyonce is some sort of visionary. Imagine if Carrie Underwood came out in a confederate flag bikini and did the Hitler salute? Media would be in an uproar.

The confederates enslaved an entire race of people. The KKK lynched thousands of innocent people based on the color of their skin. The panthers called police "pigs" and exercised second amendment rights to bear arms to watch police officers. Comparing Hitler to the BPP is absurd. Yes, they were a black pride group. Yes, they were controversial. No, they didn't go out slaughtering white people because they were white. I'm not a huge fan of their militancy and their use of the second amendment, but this idea that they were a black supremacy group that wanted to enact white genocide is fucking stupid. They wanted reparations for slavery, they wanted police accountability, they wanted to police themselves until the police stopped killing them, they wanted to provide free breakfasts for kids. They weren't hunting down white men accused of crimes and dragging them from the back of trucks until they died. They weren't rounding up the whites and putting them in gas chambers. They were extreme, yes, but they are incomparable to the confederacy, the KKK, or the Nazi Party.
if they didn't wear safety gear then we'd be talking
The safety gear just allows them to smash into each other even harder.
The safety gear just allows them to smash into each other even harder.
Pretty much. When you have a $1200 helmet designed and engineered over MANY years of improvements upon improvements, then the padding they wear, they aren't too concerned with how hard they hit or where, because they know it's not going to hurt too bad, so it's 110%

Sometimes it was cause the police were racist or afraid and overreacted. Other times BPP members just straight up shot cops ambush style. Sure they're not as bad as the KKK or Hitler, but plenty of their members were domestic terrorists. Wikipedia has a long list of many of their actions (I know its wikipedia, but the sure volume should give you an idea): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Panther_Party
