Here are a list of my current 8 FLST's or Fruity Loops Studio Tutorial's. Each episode goes for aprox 10-15mins and like I said above, there is 8 of them. These tutorials slowly go through everything you would need to know if you just happened to get FL studio for yourself and you dont know what to do or even how to set it up correctly. I go through step-by-step the processes of: -Setting up ASIO and your soundcard -The Interface -Handy tips -Automation -Recording -Composing -Quantizing -Library expansion -VST expansion -Export/Rendering and a shit load more... so yeh, take it easy and enjoy! You don't need to make a new thread for every tutorial. Just make a tutorial thread.
Will you please go into how to control MIDI instruments with FL? I just got one :P
You don't need to make a new thread for every tutorial. Just make a tutorial thread.
I made two threads, im sure your OCD wont be bugging you too much about it. If its not there then I guess I'll have to make episode 6.2 "Connecting external peripherals" Thanks bud ^_^
Will you please go into how to control MIDI instruments with FL? I just got one :P
connecting a midi instruments is not that hard check midi options :)
connecting a midi instruments is not that hard check midi options :)
Or perhaps he means how to map the encoders, sliders and such?
Both actually. I'm just afraid to screw something up somehow.
You can't really break midi stuff. just plug it in and start screwing around
well, no. its not really the case of simply plugging it in and off you go. Alot of DAWs require you to scan for controllers and/or select the make or model in which case youd be lucky enough to have most if not all functions auto-mapped. If not, thrn youd need to manually map each slider, encoder and button yourself. Ill do a tutorial on it soon for u if I havent gone through it in a tutorial.

Will look at these. So far my knowledge of the DAW was earned by playing around with it.
My midi keyboard has a lot of lag... dont really know why....
that lag has got to do with your buffer length in your audio settings, make sure u have ASIO for all running first as that will help ALOT! Check out the 1.0 tutorials and perhaps the 2.0's as I explain how to set up your audio so u get less or no lag. [editline]27th October 2011[/editline]
Will look at these. K man thx
Yeah I know but I assumed he can google FL Studio midi by himself
He could but there really isnt that much out there, unless he's lucky enough to have one of the controllers that alot of other people have that want to do the same thing. Like with my Akai, I had to suss that out all by myself and eventually got there, barely anything on how to map anything on the net, although it is a good resource for info.

useful tutorials, thanks Ignyte
I got an Akai to! just with lag...
Are you using ASIO4ALL As your primary soundcard? Because if you use that, youll get little to no Lag at all :) Look into it man.
I have had like 14 controllers and it was exactly the same for all of them :l
Yeh it sucks hey! a greater native support for midi controllers would be heaps better..
These are really helpful, thanks!
These are really helpful, thanks!
No worries man, The idea is to give everyone a good idea of how to use FL Studio and it's always nice to know that It's helping those who are looking for it :)
Here's a quick question; do you recommend the use of a MIDI keyboard and learning how to play the keys at a basic to intermediate level? I know it's self-explanatory and all, but I'd like to know your take on it and I can't seem to understand how people can solely make tracks just by using the pencil tool, or by messing around on their QWERTY keyboards. Trust me, I've tried making something using that method and let's just say... I lose interest within ten or so minutes because it's so inefficient and not to mention not exactly easy to get it to sound quite right. I could technically use the built-in "Riff Machine" and what-not, but that just feels incredibly lazy and I'm so against taking short cuts, even if it inhibits my work-flow.
Good question, A midi keyboard will only be of use if you have a somewhat basic understanding or theoretical knowledge of the piano, what notes sound good together, why some notes sound bad together, basic Chords and keys etc... Really to be able to compose in FL-studio, you need to have some sort of this basic understanding because every instrument except for sequenced instruments have note-inputs through the Piano-roll. I know this doesnt directly answer your question, It's a tough question to answer really.. I guess It comes down to ones method of understanding and composition, some people can compose by having those physical keys infront of them, but some others wont need that and can visualize in their heads what notes are played to achieve the sound they are after. Alot of my older songs were composed with nothing but my mouse in the piano-roll because I didnt have any other equipment and by having that prior knowledge of Piano theory ruined any chance I had of trying to use the QWERTY keyboard instead (Although I can never understand how anyone could possibly use it) Yeh... I hope this made sense to you. [editline]11th November 2011[/editline] Oh and I totally agree, taking short-cuts by using tools like the Riff machine is very slack and I don't really condone the use of such methods.
Made a lot of sense mate, thanks. Now I just need to motivation to complete a track, but I guess that's one big part of the challenge, well especially for somebody as inexperienced as me. Do you also happen to use Logic Pro?
Starting and finishing a song is bloody hard, I composed about 50+ songs before I actually started one and finished it. And no I don't use Logic Pro.
Still loving Fl 10
