If you have the original PSP you can use the lumines exploit. I used that to hack mine, though I'm not sure if you can do it on the later firmwares.
Well, I just updated to 5.00 m33 after 2 years of staying at 3.30 oea, psp1001 is easy to hack, im in a good mood, so Imma try to help ya. First, answer these: can you use a soldering iron? Or, have you ever worked with electronics before? Talk to ya in a sec
If you have the original PSP you can use the lumines exploit. He's going to have to use a pandora battery one way or another. OP either buy one (link also has a 4gb MSDuo, albeit crappy): http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12711 Or make one your self: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/579292
Yep, I used the lumines 2 years ago, and stayed with it for 2 years XD yesturday got to 5.00
Get a Pandora battery from deal extreme. They cost like 8 bucks.

Also, I used that hack to first get into the homebrew scene as well. (with the exception of HEN exploits, which were crap)
Do it using ChickHEN if you are on fw 5.03 or lower

He just said he is on 6.20. Use the hardmod method, it is easy. You just gotta fuck with you battery, I'll link more information if youre interested
Or you can softmod a battery if you have access to a hacked PSP
Yeah that's an option too
He just said he is on 6.20. Use the hardmod method, it is easy. You just gotta fuck with you battery, I'll link more information if youre interested
yeah ill try that. and any other suggestions.
Softmod!
This is the picture I used to hardmod my PSP. Note that it's for an original phat PSP. [editline]11:45PM[/editline] You just have to cut that one pin in the picture. It's pretty simple [editline]11:46PM[/editline] After that it should look like this: [editline]11:50PM[/editline] After you've hard modded your PSP then you must make a Magic Memory Stick. From here on it's all just software things, no more modding of the hardware. Here's a pretty good guide wich I used some time ago http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-hardware-guides/28839-easy-use-pandoras-battery-guide-needs-updating-redoing.html
There are multiple revisions of the battery with different PCB on the inside. It's easier if you desolder the entire EEPROM rather than lifting that specific leg. Or even better, softmod your battery like what I have said previously, since you can easily restore your battery, and reduce all possible risks of damaging it.
ok so do i really need to buy another battery and memory stick?
If you are planning to do the hardmod method, you'll need another battery. You won't need another memory stick
Well you don't NEED another battery. The Pandora will still work. Only downside is that you must use an AC adapter to power it up.
Well you don't NEED another battery. The Pandora will still work. Only downside is that you must use an AC adapter to power it up.
It's not the pandora battery that he should be concerned about, it's the "normal" battery
It's not the pandora battery that he should be concerned about, it's the "normal" battery
If he mods the "normal" battery it will become the pandora. Pandora will work like a normal battery if he powers it up with an AC adaptor every time, though there IS a software fix for this. I have no idea if it exists anymore but at least there was one year ago. But if he is skilled enough he can easily weld the pin back.
Here's a handy link, for hard modding PSP's. (Fat & Slim)
