Okay, I have a very basic understanding of computers but that's only what's on the computer like software. My budget is £400 and my current specs are:
ATI Radeon 5770 1GB
AMD Athlon 4200+ 2.44ghz Dual Core
2GB RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit.
So really i'm fine with my graphics card but i'd like a really good Quad-core upgrade, but I may need a new motherboard too. I'd like to get at least 2 more GB of RAM, as well as a 1tb HDD.
I'm from the UK and I plan to buy this early next week. Thanks in advance.
If you want 4GB of memory + the 5770 1GB, you'll probably need to get 64-bit Windows 7.
The 32-bit version supports a maximum of 4GB of memory(which means system memory + expansion card memory like the GPU). I think the 64-bit version of Windows 7 comes on the disk.
Do you know what Power Supply you have?

It was a 700w one that was about £45. Wasn't the best of qualities but it has lasted me very well. Also when is this Sandy Bridge coming out?

Aria's own from aria.co.uk. However I don't really want to overstep my budget. I can get a new PSU the month after or in May. Not too sure.

Go with the 955 and overclock it to those speeds. The speed increase is not worth that much. Save a ton. You could also go to 4GB RAM.

What motherboard do you suggest? That supports AM3 but I have AM2 at the moment.
