So I decided to try out ubuntu, and I downloaded it and burnt it on a dvd. I ran the auto-run and clicked "install inside Windows". don't use wubi

If you want to really install the OS and really use it. Install natively (boot from CD and what not). If you just wanna try and fuck around use a VM. If you install using Wubi, you'll get a broken Linux system. Using Wubi to try an OS is rather retarded because it has been know to fuck up the Windows boot and what not. Even if the installation is successful you'll most likely not have a good experience because the system will be broken. Afterwards, thinking the OS is shit, you'll want to uninstall it. You can do that within windows but you risk to have some sort of corruption of your MBR or boot process.
