wait for it to go cheaper
I take it it isn't a very good game? I've only seen the initial E3 trailer, thought it looked interesting.
I take it it isn't a very good game? I've only seen the initial E3 trailer, thought it looked interesting.
It's relatively OK, but it has a lot of flaws and is really short.
The version I played on the Xbox 360 was glitchy as all hell. Some of it was even gamebreaking to the point I had to restart entire sections to get farther in the game.
Terrible game.
Christ the game hasn't even been out for 2 months. This feels like the one time I saw a used retail copy of Brink on Xbox 360 for €2,- less than 9 months after release.
Watch the "two best friends" Let's Play and get the same experience.
Nobody has said exactly why it's bad except for bugs(wow descriptive!) and being short(define short).
Nobody has said exactly why it's bad except for bugs(wow descriptive!) and being short(define short).
It's also just really bland and boring. Half of the game is super simplistic investigation that barely even requires any thinking and the rest is boring bad stealth that just requires you to hide until an enemy gets near, then run up behind them and take them out.
You do literally the same thing over and over. Doesn't help that what you do can be summed up as "Phoenix Wright clue finding with uninteresting cases and dumber logic pathing".
Nobody has said exactly why it's bad except for bugs(wow descriptive!) and being short(define short).
The investigation mechanics are Dora the Explorer level of simple, you are told exactly how many clues their are, then once you collect all the relevant clues you answer a simple question by using 1-3 clues to finish the investigation. You then walk from the current location to another location and do it all over again. Except when the game requires 'combat' where you have to sneak up behind demons to kill them. If they spot you you hide in ghost shadows for 15 or so seconds until they get bored and go back to their incredibly simple patrols. Also the story is David Cage tier stupid. The characters actively make the investigation more difficult for themselves. Also the main character is a boring fuck and a moron to boot.

For example, you're in a crime scene and it poses the question "what happened here" which you must match up to clues. You might try to [sp]match up something like broken shards of glass, the body under a window two stories up, and therefore it falling. That's wrong.[/sp] You might also try to match up [sp] the fact that you know it was shot after it fell to death. That's wrong, too.[/sp] It turns out, when it asks "what happened here," the answer is [sp]SOMEONE DIED HERE.[/sp] All of the investigations are like this; If you're trying to think it out, you're probably overthinking it.
Nobody has said exactly why it's bad except for bugs(wow descriptive!) and being short(define short).
The story is garbage and ignores most of its own rules with no justification. Most of the plot constraints are extremely artificial, feel shoehorned in and make no sense. The main character is as uncharismatic as it gets. Literally a douchebag with a fedora with a dumb face that never says anything even remotely interesting. The actual gameplay is as dull and repetitive as it gets. The main investigation is collect clues, link the clues with some pretty bad logic pathing which is more about process of elimination than actual deduction, watch flashback and protagonist decide where to go next, rinse and repeat. Camera is fucking awful. The game has no minimap and constantly disorients the player (it's a game with close to no actual walls, mind you). The permanent fish eye is a pain to the eye. Most of the gimmicks (mind reading, possession, etc) lose their fun like two hours in, at most. Stealth sections are dumb, boring and forced. You hide from monsters, stealth kill them with a frustrating QTE, hide again, rinse and repeat. It's also made frustrating by the horrible camera controls, since enemies will follow you through walls and will keep hurting you through them, but because of the horrid camera, you can't do much about it. Extremely short. Takes less than 10 hours to complete 100% and the main story alone can be dealt with in 5 hours if you rush it. The game tries to artificially pump up the length by adding collectibles in exorbitant numbers - and it fails pretty hard. Speaking of collectibles, literally no incentive to ever collect them : the side stories are basically spooky goosebump stories told by a boring narrator on a still picture. Not worth getting into, especially when you have to collect 10 to 20 of the same object to unlock one story. The side quests are also shit. So, basically, it's a super boring game with no interesting gameplay, no interesting story or characters, and no interesting gimmicks. If you want a fun ghost game just pick up ghost trick.
