Hey gonna put a distro on my USB Flash, Wondering what distro you guys suggest. drive is 2gb.
Needs to support WPA out of the box -.- Had hard times attempting to get SLAX to work on my WPA network.
Does in only need to support only one computer, or a wide variety of computers?
Maybe a Linux-mint livecd ripped onto the flashdrive.

Does it even support booting from a USB drive?
Also what applications do you want to run on it?

It does,
Specs are:
4GB DDR2
AMD Athlon 64 x2 5000+ brisbane cores
1GB 9500GT
Just firefox and instant messaging. WINE would be a bonus so I can play CS 1.6 while my HDD is being replaced. I have another flash drive with CS 1.6 so space isnt a issue.
If you aren't scared of configuring everything, go with Arch or Gentoo.
(Fits on everything with a little of effort.)
I'm pretty sure anything will fit on a 2GB flash drive. Hell, I installed Ubuntu on this very computer from a 512MB one.
Mint 8 seems to fit fine with persistence. Gonna try it in half hour.
Whats wrong with a LiveCD?

I want to store stuff, My harddrive is currently being shipped to Mississauga, ON for RMA.
You could try using a liveCD and then just storing everything on the USB drive.

If you apt-get on a LiveCD, it installs the program into RAM, so if you don't mind having to download it every time you boot up...

That's slow as fuck, tried that when was in the same situation as OP, though i had a 80 USB hdd i ended up installed winxp on.
Just install Arch + wicd.
On a ubuntu machine.
System->Administration->Startup Disk Creator
Point the top box to the ubuntu iso of your choice, point the bottom box to your flash drive, use the slider to fill the rest of your drive with persistence, press go.
