For many, Command & Conquer is the symbol as the inventor and driver of the RTS genre as we know it today. While the world of gaming is changing rapidly, the RTS genre itself hasn’t changed that much at all. But this will change soon, with Command & Conquer leading the world of gaming into a new era. We’re proud to announce the evolution of Generals 2 towards the new Command & Conquer online game that will bring players around the world a high quality AAA Real Time Strategy experience! This new experience will start with the content we’ve built for Generals 2, brought to a never before seen visual level powered by Frostbite 2 - High Octane Action - For Free.

Petition: Earlier on in 2008, EA released Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3. This game was mediocre at best. Some fans loved it. Some fans hated it. Nevertheless, EA had lost the charm that previous games in the series had. By far one of the best and most loved Command and Conquer games was Generals. This game was adored by fans, and it is considered one of the best in the series. In December of 2011, EA announced Command and Conquer Generals 2. The Command and Conquer community was set alight with excitement. Fans went and pre-ordered the game, conversed on internet forums about what can make the game amazing, and speculated was would be in it. The Command and Conquer community believed that Generals 2 would save the series, as the previous game in the series (C&C4), was a huge let down, and signalled the end of the series. But on August 15, 2012, EA announced that Generals 2 has been scrapped, and is being turned into a Free to play, online only game. Once again, the Command and Conquer community was annoyed with EA's choices. They are scrapping the single player portion of the game, and making it an online only, multi player game. The game that Command and Conquer fans have waited almost a decade for, is being turned into another free to play game, which forces the player to pay real money to buy aspects of the game to help them win. If you want to win a game online, you need to download a vitual tank that will cost $20, only to be obsolete in a month when a better vitual tank will cost you another $20.
Tad late but I'm still enraged.
No fucking duh they ruined it, what did you expect? It's EA
2012 - the year everything goes P2W
This isn't news and petitions don't do shit, especially when you are trying to petition EA of all people
I have a feeling a petition won't change EA's mind one bit.
Honestly what's the point of petitioning? It's not EA is going to let their developers do anything crazy.
I have a feeling a petition won't change EA's mind one bit.
Online petitions do shit imo, real petitions on the street normally changes stuff.
Of course it won't, but one sucker in EA will have to look at it. Even if it doesn't waste more than a few minutes. I'll know at least I tried something. Also, if you don't really like Command and Conquer, then it doesn't really affect you.
this petition is a joke, right? if you don't like a game, don't play it. jesus christ
I didn't make it, but it's nice to gauge roughly how much people care about the petition to sign it.
It keeps happening.
I didn't have any faith that the game would turn out good from the moment it was announced.
It looked awesome, but the engine change and the inclusion of Bio-Ware in the project did seem suspicious for me too.

Complaining about EA won't do shit, if you're really angry or concerned go up to their numerous HQ's around the world and speak to someone, facepunch isn't going to help you
this petition is a joke, right? if you don't like a game, don't play it. jesus christ
You're missing the point... People WANT the game, they just don't want the stupid F2P model of it.
I... ... I don't even know what to say to this.
You're missing the point... People WANT the game, they just don't want the stupid F2P model of it.
Honestly, I'm betting all my Internets it's going to be crap F2P or no F2P.

Why not use that time to actually write an email, and flood EA inboxes with it, a petition can be shrugged off but when your email inbox has thousands of the same email from thousands of people you tend to take notice.
Fuck EA.
everything after c&c 3 is a waste of time.... c&c 3 + kane was ok but not worthy of the holy grail that is Westwood !
The petition is a slightly a lost cause, but if it's shared enough it could gain enough signatures for EA to recognise it's actual existence. And yeah, me among other fans wanted the proper game we were expecting and informed about before they released that it would be another shitty F2P.
F2P is fine if it's executed well enough but from my past experiences with EA's Play 4 Free model, it's nothing but absolute money-grubbing garbage. They fucking ruined Battlefield Heroes, a game I fucking enjoyed, in one fell swoop. Just *poof* there, the game you've been playing for the past month is totally screwed now because fuck you. In one day, a single update ruined the entirety of BFH up to this very day. I even had a little faith for Battlefield P4F but that played out about as well as it could get, recons get airstrikes even though the one fucking class that shouldn't, is the goddamned sniper! C&C actually hurts worse, I thought EA were pretty knowledgable about the series because Generals was just awesome but it started degrading pretty fast. I liked Tiberium Wars and even found Red Alert 3 entertaining but holy fucking shit, they went through the floor when they made C&C4. Fucking everything is bullshit about this game, the gameplay, the story, fucking everything, if it didn't say "Command & Conquer 4 Tiberian Twilight" right on the damned cover, I honestly think I wouldn't have recognized it! Now, with the return of Generals, after that weird C&C browser game that stole from Warhammer (40k?), I thought things would start looking up again. Instead, I get confronted with the one thing from EA I wanted to avoid like the fucking plague. Goddammit, EA just GTFO.
Why is it okay for EA to accept pre-orders and then completely change the game? That's bait and switch...
I know it's fruitless against a company like EA, but isn't that illegal? People bought the game and then they make it free. Are they giving refunds?
