Packed lunches should be banned and all children should be taught how to cook in fight against obesity, say experts - It's hoped children aged 7 to 14 will be taught how to make up to 20 dishes - Education Secretary Michael Gove looking at new ways of improving diets - Leon founders Henry Dimbleby and John Vincent made recommendations http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2276402/Compulsory-cooking-lessons-proposed-pupils-drive-child-obesity.html#axzz2KXH7vs9k
Reminds me of that school that banned home-packed lunches because nobody was buying the school food. Also, dailymail
Well I agree with teaching kids how to cook for themselves, but banning packed lunches kinda nullifies the later bit doesn't it?
School should focus on more useful subjects in general I mean, for crying out loud, I don't even know how to fill out a fucking check
Cooking lessons in school are a joke. When I was there all they taught us was how to make pita bread pizza and brownies.
I can just picture 400 little shits making "Experimental" food every single day.. On a related note, school janitors will be more job secure than ever.
They taught me how to make pizza using baking soda. :suicide:
I really wish bringing packed lunches would have made be an outlaw badass when I was in elementary school. Anyways, this is pretty dumb. The time spent preparing the food is probably taking time away from important maths and sciences.
School should focus on more useful subjects in general I mean, for crying out loud, I don't even know how to fill out a fucking check
Schools already have that, it's called PSHE (Personal, Social, and Health Education), the teachers just never bother teaching anything useful in it
I wish my school offered a cooking course. That would be awesome
Not everyone has enough money to fork out every day for the school tuckshop, I have a packed lunch everyday but every fortnight friday when i get tuckshop, or if the school is going on a fieldtrip and they have a cafe there
School should focus on more useful subjects in general I mean, for crying out loud, I don't even know how to fill out a fucking check
that isn't incredibly useful these days. i'v written like....2 checks in my entire life.
I learned to cook pretty early. Specifically meals that aren't expensive but make a lot. Since I'm moving out at the end of the week, this is going to seriously come in handy. Thanks, Mom and Dad.
School should focus on more useful subjects in general I mean, for crying out loud, I don't even know how to fill out a fucking check
That is taught actually. I was taught how to write a check and budget.
Packed lunches should be banned and all children should be taught how to cook in fight against obesity, say experts
wait, if kids can cook for themselves, surely that means they can pig out whenever they want? are they retarded
I think the most useful things I've done in high school was taking AP U.S History (I swear, I had no way to visual the formation of my fucking country before it) and Calculus, as it has literally helped me so much in college.
Where are kids going to get the money to buy all the ingredients. Get kids to stop being lazy shits and make their own packed lunches.
So.. we should teach kids how to cook, and then ban them from bringing food that they cooked to school? what
I might have bought school lunches when I was in high school if it wasn't two dollars for a slice of fucking pizza, those greedy cunts.
School should focus on more useful subjects in general I mean, for crying out loud, I don't even know how to fill out a fucking check
Who still writes checks apart from pensioners?
Lets control every single little thing in people's lives because we know best what's best for them.
that isn't incredibly useful these days. i'v written like....2 checks in my entire life.
i dunno what kinda life you live in cause i fill out several every month
I refuse to believe that school dinners are healthier than anything I've ever had in a packed lunch. Fucking pasta that's 90% water eugh.
that isn't incredibly useful these days. i'v written like....2 checks in my entire life.
I'm too old fashioned to use checks, and I only have a credit card for those "pay-n-tank yourself" gas stations and ordering shit online. I like to keep things simple and easy to manage.
Well I agree with teaching kids how to cook for themselves, but banning packed lunches kinda nullifies the later bit doesn't it?
I think the schools want to force the students to buy food at school. You know, the over priced, not healthy kind. Starting a monopoly I see.
Cheques aren't really used any more, I don't think you'll need to know how to use them in the future.
yeah lets ban the more than likely healthier take in lunches instead of you know focusing on fucking education how about you do that please
But packed lunches are awesome!
i dunno what kinda life you live in cause i fill out several every month
i live a life that involves using debit and cash for most things i need.

Which isn't too bad as long as you pay regular visits to your parents for fresh meals :v: But yeah it's a good skill to have. Not to mention the wonders of culinary experimentation.
