Her name is Bacon btw :3:
The bust is 7 inches tall and 6 1/2 wide making the eyes a pain in the ass to make using toothpicks. It took me about 8-9 hours to complete. Avoid commenting on the pupils, I fixed them after taking the pictures.
1. Is it any good?
2. Anything I should improve?
3. Should I paint it?
4. Would you hit it?
Now if you ever break up you have this to destroy with a bat.
hahahahahahahhaa
That looks scary
Is your girlfriend by any chance a hobbit
If so it's pretty accurate
That looks scary
I couldn't get the eyebrows to show up with the camera

She is pretty short
Looks like she came straight out of Pixar Studios.
Looks good though. :v:
I assume it was supposed to be cartoonish? The proportions are off, but you captured her pretty well, especially accounting for the size, working tiny can be a bitch in sculpture if you've not been doing it for years.
I'm sure she feels proud to have you.
I'm sure she feels proud to have you.
Prouder then yours.
[editline]19th March 2011[/editline]
wait, shit
I feel bad for your girlfriend!
It is pretty cartoonish looking, but I can see the resemblance.
Holy hell that's creepy.
I'm just gonna assume this is what everyone is talking about

[editline]lol[/editline]
Is it creepy because of how cartoonish and realistic it is at the same time? Is it the smile? Someone give a goddamn reason
I can't stop laughing! I'd buy it!
I hope that's not made entirely of plasticine because that's a waste, or did you use white modelling clay? My preference is bog standard clay as you can get easily get a lot more detail into it. From the bust I can clearly see the tool marks and impressions of fingers.
My first niggle is the eyes, they're very flat and lifeless. From my experience I found it easier to gouge out a large recess and then make a ball simulating the eyes and then overlay the eyelids and then refine it like so. As a preliminary measure it helps to make a mark on the eye as to where the eye's pupil is facing.

Like everyone else has pointed out, the whole facial features and proportions aren't working. It's a good attempt but when starting off I found it easier to draw or sketch the face before you start modelling it so you can understand all the facial bones, features and muscles.

It's hollow

The facial proportions are fine, the torso should be a lot bigger though. I normally do a lot better with the eyes, except that the sculpture was small as fuck. I do use that method you mentioned most of the time though. Note that I haven't sanded the figure yet.
sanded? What the heck is it made from then?
sanded? What the heck is it made from then?
Almost all clay can be sanded, before and after firing it.
Almost all clay can be sanded.
Never have I heard or seen ANYONE sand clay. Clay itself doesn't need sanding and if you want a smooth finish spray some water over it.

:frog:
That just makes it shinier for a short period of time. Clay isn't magic
Does she like it?
Stop bloody editing your posts. If you answered my question in the first place as to what type of clay it was rather than playing 20 questions we could help you more and give you better feedback.
By the way on NORMAL grey standard clay spraying water on it does make it smoother.
Does she like it?
No idea, I haven't showed it to her yet. I can almost certainly say she will though. She is a very perverted weeabo so I can probably get by with just calling it a loli.
Proper anatomy - too mainstream

Its DAS air dry clay, my current project doesn't allow me to use anything else. It does harden completely unlike a lot of brands.

That's not loli though, that's a human pig you've made.
If I made something like this of my girlfriend (in terms of quality) I wouldn't show it to her, I would hide it away far away because whoever you've sculpted it after it's clearly not her. Or maybe if she concieved a pig, but that is definiatly not her. Unless you want to break up with her, then go ahead V:v:V
Woaw creepy :ohdear:

I've never heard of this, if you want a smooth finish you burnish the medium with a smooth surface like the back of a spoon when it's leather-hard or drier. Sponging clay with a wet sponge is the only instance I've heard of that requires water to smooth a piece, just spraying it on wouldn't magically smooth a surface.
