Okay so in an hour and a half I'm going to go buy an SSD, i'm either going to buy a 240 or 2 120s; I will be putting an operating system and my browser on one and a few of my more favorable games on the other. Do I do this? (more expensive but two separate drives) or do I just get one 240 and install it all on one drive?
I've got two 120gbs ssds that I run in a raid0 setup.
I've never installed games on a separate harddrive from the OS so I don't know if there's any advantages or disadvantages to that.
Just get a 240. You could do RAID0, but the 240gb SSD is very fast as is. You won't see any benefit from keeping those installs separate, and you will have less wasted space with them all on one drive.

Thats what I was thinking and its about 50 dollars cheaper to go with the 240
Thanks.
No problem, what model are you getting? I'd recommend the Samsung 840 EVO or Crucial MX100

Local store is out of the 840; I'm going with this one; it comes with a 5 year warranty. http://www.frys.com/product/7794958?site=sr:SEARCH:MAIN_RSLT_PG
Not bad. IMO Samsung, Crucial, and Intel are going to be the only real players in the SSD game in a few years.

Eh, other brands can be pretty good deals occasionally. Both my roommate and me run Corsair SSDs and they were $40~60 for 120-180GB respectively (though my other laptops have Intel / Samsung SSDs).
240 would be better but at least with 2 120's theres less of a fail rate (but that's silly pointless since you can get a pure backup harddrive afterwards)

I'm not talking about deals. They make their own shit, and in a few years it's going to come down to having the least middle men as possible. I just don't think companies who utilize too many other company's products will last in the SSD market.

I'm not sure I'd agree with less of a fail rate since you've got two drives. 1 240 vs 1 120 maybe, but with 2 drives it's a trickier comparison.
Got the 240; installing 7 on it now :)
