• Insurance investigations, what rights do insurance companies have?

Oh, before anyone tells me to look it up, I haven't the slightest clue how to word this or what precisely to look for. I also doubt my ability to properly comprehend any literature I may find, insurance in the biggest mind fuck to me. When I think I'm starting to understand there's something immediately following that brief second of understanding that fucks it up for me. So, here's the breakdown: Some friends and I went camping, we were cruising around and we flipped my friend's Chevy Blazer(Like 10 times, OH MAN! It was really fun in retrospect, worse thing that's happened to me yet, but the 20 seconds flipping were fun). We all went to the hospital, got checked out, cleaned up and what not. My mother is worried that Bob's(the driver and owner of the vehicle) insurance company is going to investigate us, mainly she's worried about my facebook. I make all kinds of drug references, talk about my experiences and what not. She's worried that neither my medical or his auto insurance won't cover my medical bills if they think drugs were involved(or something). But what I want to know is, what can they really do? I mean, can they probe a hidden page? Should this even be something that concerns me? I'm not looking to sue anyone, I'm not looking to get any money out of this, I just want to make sure I'll be covered so I'm not in debt. I'm in the US, Florida which is a no-fault state(I really don't understand that). I have medical insurance but I don't have auto-insurance. No one was seriously injured, well, as far as we can tell. The doctors at the hospital and the EMTs at the scene said health problems could present further down the road. NO drugs were involved in the accident The officer made no mention about drugs or alcohol, I didn't see anything on the police report or the ticket about either. The driver was ticketed for "Driving Too Fast for Conditions"(70+MPH on a dirt road that quickly and unexpectedly changed to asphalt on a slight corner). Bottom line, what should I be careful/worried about, is there anything I need to do as far as an insurance investigation goes? Anything you may need to know, just ask.
Just don't seem like a complete stoner and it'll probably be fine.
Kk lol
Just set your facebook page to friends only and if someone called "Insurance Company" adds you as a friend, ignore the request.
Lol!
They can check out your Facebook page if they can get access to it, but unless they can prove that you were high at the time of the accident there's nothing they can do. Did the hospital administer a blood test when you came in?
Just don't seem like a complete stoner and it'll probably be fine.
My brother's baby's momma got into an accident and she got busted for something on her facebook or myspace. I don't know all the details, but I remember someone accusing her of trying to commit fraud, so I have no idea if my incident is similar in the least. I don't think they ever confronted her personally until after the investigation. But I know not to act like a complete stoner. I already set it all to just friends. Is it illegal for them to pry beyond the privacy setting? I do know they were checking kidney function and looking for internal bleeding. Oh, and I got the best news that day too. My girlfriend was with us in the accident and she had missed her period, they did a pregnancy test with her urine sample and it was negative, I started hugging her and getting all excited and tore open the bigger wound on my elbow. Lol. :D
Ladies and gentlemen, this is why we do NOT make stoner comments on facebook or myspace. Insurance companies, military academies, universities, and people looking to hire an individual ALL have the ability to look through those accounts and find stupid comments that put yourself and your career, education, and insurance at risk. The more you know! :science:
