• Wireless Connection Issue

I recently switched from Comcast to Verizon. With Comcast I was using the awesome WRT54GL router and had an awesome connection even through two floors. But the Verizon modem has a built in router, so I'm forced to use the one they gave me. The weird thing is, even though Windows always reports an "Excellent" signal, about half the time the internet speed is extremely flaky. Like when I play TF2 my ping pretty much switches between 50 and 150, depending on what mood my wireless is in. The really weird thing is that none of my roommates have had any issues, so it seems like the problem is with my computer. tl;dr what could cause a wireless connection to have full signal but intermittently terrible speed?
Any interference between you and your router? You could try switching the wireless channel. Be wary of microwave ovens. I once knew a guy who's connection dropped every time somebody used it.
Basically as above, the signal can get interfered with by other wireless devices like a mobile phone or indeed a microwave oven. Moving your router away from interfering devices can improve the connection.
