the levels and EQing were all over the place and half that video seemed to be you dancing like a penis the idea was alright though, and respect for trying the whole live electronic production thing, it can be extremely difficult to pull off and get it right. i'd look at incorporating various synths and perhaps a second pair of hands, similar to sbtrkt in order to get a truly immersive performance
obligatory criticism to establish social hierarchy plus a slightly relevant video showing a different genre of music. but thanks for the backhanded compliment I suppose
obligatory criticism to establish social hierarchy plus a slightly relevant video showing a different genre of music
erm, what? i'm not trying to start an argument. most people would be able to tell that what you did there was good and all but since it was all produced from a single instrument live there wasn't much room for a clean mix, leaving you with an overall quite messy performance which on a loud system would pierce various frequencies quite nastily. i'm not saying i could do better, i seriously doubt i could, but if you came to this forum expecting "OH MY GOD IT'S AMAZING!" then i'm sorry, i'm going to give you my opinion, not a dressed up opinion that wants to suck your dick
I'm just telling you you're wrong in a dismissive way, you don't need to be so upset. Your suggestion to a solo live mix is to stop being a solo live mix. Lemme know when you realize how helpful or wanted that criticism is. Also, notice all the people in your video dancing? And this sounded tits on a full PA. The lows are separated from the highs, and minus a few errors in the performance, it all translates pretty well. I apply the logic of Occam's Razor to dance music. Keep it simple enough that you can feel the beat through the alcohol. And if your penis dances like I do please send me a video that sounds really interesting.

Oh sorry, let me start over: THANK YOU, BOBIE, FOR YOUR CRITICISM, maybe one day I'll be a grown up musician like you making records and big bucks and I won't have an ego at all
I think it's pretty horrible but I wont tell you why I think so because you clearly aren't gonna take it seriously.
I'm not touching this.
I concede. DDT please.
I concede. DDT please.
Just read through this thread and I can conclusively say that you are a wasteman.
It's people like this asshole that pisses me off with people in the music industry, if you can't take constructive critisism, you're going absolutely nowhere. Bobie was clearly trying to help you out, and you decided to act like a total asshole and responded in a really childish way. Personally, I thought it was pretty creative, but seeing that you're a total asshole, I'm really doubting listening to your creations in the future.
I didn't like it, at all. Some kind of indie-dance or some weird shit you're going for here? Certainly wouldn't call it dance music. If I heard this in a club or something, I'd probably leave the building. On top of that, your asshole-ish attitude isn't really helping. As far as production goes, it was okay. Okay until your saw synth came it, way too piercing and present in the mix. Still, nice attempt at making my ears bleed though. To me, the whole clue of dance music lies within the beat or groove. You gotta have something that makes people want to get up their feet and go nuts. Unless your goal in life is to make people dance like sperglords of course, then you're well on your way. It might be because I'm not a fan of this kind of 'genre' you're aiming for, (not a fan of SBTRKT either) but either way it has some serious issues. The beat sounded weak, there wasn't really anything at that resembled a buildup or momentum resulting in a very dull and boring track, which it is. Overall it sounds like something anyone could do in FL Studio with minimal effort. Usually I wouldn't write anything this negative, but since you're acting like a total douchebag, I'm okay with it. Learn to take criticism, or be shit forever.
what
+4 to humility after this thread. I'll be seriously considering these comments on future productions. Apologies for my defensive reactions to those trying to help.
