Right now, I have this for specs:
I7 Core 950 @ 3.07 GHz.
2 HDDs at 1TB each
Nvidia 295 GTX
So for my fans I have:
2 front 120mm fans.
1 top 200 mm fan
1 side 120 mm fan
1 back 120 mm fan
Power supply fan
So my PC stays at pretty nice temperatures usually. But I am a mapper.
When I compile a map, hammer likes to use 100% of the CPU, literally.
Temperatures will reach 100 Celsius when compiling maps. I have lower temperatures when even playing Crysis, but Hammer is a CPU hog.
Do you think theres a problem with my setup or is it just that Hammer uses so much of the CPU that theres nothing I can do about it?
what CPU heatsink do you have?
Intel E29477-002
Stock heatsink. Get an after market one for better heat dissipation
The Ven-X seems to be a favourite

The CM hyper 212 is also nice
Alternatively, you could get an H50 or H70

Alright thanks a bunch
Also, try to cable manage as best you can. Having cables between the fan and the components can drastically reduce cooling effectiveness. I tried rerouting a few of my cables and internal temperatures went down by 5 degrees C
I suggest these 2 if you got a lil bit of money...

Or if you don't have a lot of money

Also forgot to mention the Corsiar H50 keeps my i5-750 a cool 32C @ idle and 59C @ 100% load
OC from 2.6 - 3.7 ghz :)
