As if it's not enough trouble learning to play moba's on a PC
can't they just butcher the quality of the graphics until they work with tablets, though? why wait?
Pretty sure this is ONLY for spectating.
can't they just butcher the quality of the graphics until they work with tablets, though? why wait?
Because changing some of the visuals could be a fatal mistake as they are important for players to recognize what the enemy is doing.
Pretty sure this is ONLY for spectating.
That's pretty need for casters.
I'm sure somehow they could make it work so you can play as well. As for now spectating would be a very awesome thing to have
As if it's not enough trouble learning to play moba's on a PC
It'd be far more impressive to watch on a professional level, as in watching them actually play it.
Pretty sure this is ONLY for spectating.
I hope so, it'd be hard to at this game on a tablet, they'd be feeders. Plus all tablet OS's don't support Steamworks, so unless they wanna divide their own platform they can't. Plus I think. Alve should be encouraging PC play not going with the "hur durh tablets will replace PC's"

Also, this isn't "hur durh tablets will replace PCs", it's "here is your PC game for when you're on the go".
And the Mac port which was promised to be done nearly a year ago is still nowhere to be found. Idk why people dont see this happening so much though. iOS has a MOBA on their App market called Heroes of Order and Chaos. I am new to MOBAs but I find it really fun, it runs smoothly, and doesn't seemed all that simplified.

I really do not think Valve is retarded enough to make Dota 2 playable on a tablet, it would be at such a disadvantage and who would even play it on a tablet?
2 years? The windows version only came out about a year ago
Oh right, sorry. My mistake. Though they did originally say that both versions would have been full released before 2012. Once the PC beta came out, they said the mac version was coming soon. For some reason I thought that the Windows version was 2 years ago.
Then mod this for mobile RTS? Yes please!
Tablet only matchmaking. Simple shit. If you're good as all hell try your luck vs pc players.
Ya because playing dota on a tablet sounds so fun.
hey dummies stop arguing about dumb crap and realize this means source on tablets
hey dummies stop arguing about dumb crap and realize this means source on tablets
but we already have Unreal Engine 3 on tablets...and it sorta is better, people only mess with Source cause Valve games and not because it's a good engine or they like developing for Source
can't they just butcher the quality of the graphics until they work with tablets, though? why wait?
It isn't just graphics. You've got physics, AI, game logic and other bits. tablet CPUs are pretty poor when it comes to raw power.
Did anyone read the article?
"We were working on getting Dota 2 running on some tablets," Newell told Kotaku. "That ended up being kind of a disappointment. But the good news is that tablets are getting faster very quickly, so I think we'll get the kind of performance we want and other game developers want in the near future."
They were working on something but from the looks of it, it didn't go very far. It's going to be awhile.
Pepper;38782427']It isn't just graphics. You've got physics, AI, game logic and other bits. tablet CPUs are pretty poor when it comes to raw power.
If it's only for spectating (is it?) then none of this really needs to be calculated.
I'd like being able to play Dota 2 while I'm on the go. I can understand the concerns that come with this (things like controls, etc.), but since I already have a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, that wouldn't be much of an issue for me. Source on android would totally kick ass, I'd also love to see the original Half-Life on my tablet.
Dota 2 is "a good [game] for us to test with."
Great, that's the last thing I wanted to hear, and that's the same exact thing they said about TF2 before they turned it into a clusterfuck. They should just allow people to spectate games from tablets, that would be cool, but playing Dota2 on a tablet would not work that well. Not for semi-competitive online play at least.
Somehow I doubt that the Angry Birds crowd has the coordination and reflexes to play Moba games.
replays : cool gameplay : lolwut
