The documents, which were passed to the Guardian, as well the Washington Post and other publications, revealed how technological developments were used by the US surveillance agency to spy on its own citizens and others abroad, and also to spy on allies, such as the US on Germany and Australia on Indonesia. In 14 hours of interviews with Washington Post journalist Barton Gellman, Snowden said: “For me, in terms of personal satisfaction, the mission’s already accomplished.” He continued: “I already won. As soon as the journalists were able to work, everything that I had been trying to do was validated. Because, remember, I didn’t want to change society. I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself.
Dramatic reconstruction of what Mr Snowden had to say:
His efforts brought to the very front of the public view transgressions that would have otherwise gone unseen. Now, more than ever, we are wary of our government. We are less willing to let those in power do as they please, more aware of freedoms that they wish to strip away. It can no longer be stopped, the first domino has already been toppled. Hopefully the endpoint of this chain will be someplace better than this.
Because, remember, I didn’t want to change society. I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself.
Powerful quote.
How can he say "mission accomplished" when he only got a job with a defense contractor intent on leaking as much classified documents as he could? He didn't even know about the NSA spying shit until he found the documents. If he didn't find the NSA documents he would have leaked something else, anything else. Honestly Snowden is the an even bigger douchebag than the Wikileaks guy.

In fact he reportedly started downloading sensitive data more than a year prior to the leak, while working on NSA contract at Dell.
Shame America as a whole is more interested in petty, senseless "news" than actual important shit.
i lost hope when channel five turned listicles into a 30-minute broadcast.
I think the saddest thing about this was that society at large didn't really change. America is more concerned with Justin bieber and Reality TV then being spied on. I think only European nations really cared about the leak
I think the saddest thing about this was that society at large didn't really change. America is more concerned with Justin bieber and Reality TV then being spied on. I think only European nations really cared about the leak
Americans are only getting upset over the leaks that concern Constitutional violations and abuse of power. Change is coming, just look at how many government groups have come forward stating that the NSA's actions were excessive and need reform. But all that about spying on other countries (Brazil/Germany in particular) doesn't concern the American people, it's just fodder for outrage from the rest of the world. I still can't figure out why he would leak that information for any reason other than to intentionally discredit the US and its allies internationally.
I wanted to give society a chance to determine if it should change itself.
As cool as a polar bear's toes.
Snowden confirm for dumbest ending.
snowden confirmed for the canon ending, you mean?
takes a lot of guts leaving everything behind for the sake of exposing such stupidity from our government and also, can smurfy become a mod now
snowden confirmed for the canon ending, you mean?
I don't know about canon, but the reasoning behind that ending is literally nonsense.
Snowden confirm for dumbest ending.
so which button do i press for the sarif ending
The title makes me think Ed' did something like this...
Sounds like he was quoting Batman
I don't know about canon, but the reasoning behind that ending is literally nonsense.
I was always sad DXHR gave you no option to just get the truth out there. Even going with the Darrow option is just calling the knife the murderer, which is just as much of an opinion/interpretation/lie as the Illuminati and Sarif endings. And the Destruction ending is just gonna leave the Illuminati ahead, so that's not as neutral as it seems either. Guess we gotta thank DX1 lore restrictions for not letting us speak the truth and kick Illuminati butt.
