• Trump Supporting Veteran's home vandalized, torched
There are lots of questions surrounding a fire that gutted a home on Johnson Street in Plant City overnight. Along with heavy damage, anti-Trump graffiti was sprayed on the house, inside and out. The family who lives there was spending the night with relatives, but Navy veteran Matthew Smith says his home was targeted because he is a Donald Trump supporter. "It's not what I expected out of America," says Smith. "It should be us figuring problems out together." Smith flies three flags in front of his house: the American flag, the POW Flag, and the Navy flag. "We supported Trump from when he started running for office," says Matthew's wife Brittany. "We never made it public. We never had a sign in our backyard, so no one really knew we were pro Trump." But Matthew says he's been very active on Facebook, with posts supporting Trump, the Second Amendment, and other conservative causes. Earlier this month, anti-Trump graffiti was sprayed on two mobile homes near Mango. Investigators say someone tried to light one of them on fire. The Smiths, who have two young children, say times have been hard recently. They say their home is in foreclosure and they have no insurance to cover the belongings that burned. Brittany says it doesn't make sense to her.
Video in Link http://www.fox13news.com/news/local-news/220373017-story
So I guess they had to make sure they were as low as the guys who burned that church
what does this prove exactly?
Since they never revealed they were Trump supporters, could voting records been willfully leaked in order to target those who supported him?
So I guess they had to make sure they were as low as the guys who burned that church
Not even 1 post! I thought there would be at least a few posts about how this is Trump's fault before we got the whataboutisms.
Title made me think Trump was supporting torching a veteran's home
Since they never revealed they were Trump supporters, could voting records been willfully leaked in order to target those who supported him?
In the video he mentioned he posted on FB appearing Trump supporting. I just didn't include the whole article for rules reasons, will add that part in.
Title made me think Trump was supporting torching a veteran's home
Maybe that is what they wanted you to believe!
what does this prove exactly?
It's not proving anything, just a news story. I will even be the first one to say that with the foreclosure being mentioned, that there has to be some skeptic outlook on this until further investigated.
Fuck off
Not even 1 post! I thought there would be at least a few posts about how this is Trump's fault before we got the whataboutisms.
But I didn't say it was Trump's fault. What I said isn't to refer nebulously to all Trump supporters. It's obvious that the majority on both sides are peaceful. It might not even be Trump supporters who did this [sp]though of course I did take the opportunity to try to stop a circlejerk about them violent liberals from erupting[/sp]
Where I live (45 min north of Plant City) you can't go down any street without seeing a house or two with Trump signs still there. I wonder why they targeted this house in particular. Tragic nonetheless.
Some of my friends from high school won't even speak to me anymore because they think because I'm a veteran= im a Trump supporter even though I never took any sides in the election.
I wouldn't even call them friends anymore imo. To stop speaking with you over politics, and going so far as to assume you're picking some side because of your background is blatantly prejudiced and shows how shallow they are.
what does this prove exactly?
Why the knee jerk reaction?
Why the knee jerk reaction?
I don't understand, how could that possibly be a knee jerk reaction? I'm asking "What does this prove" to someone torching a house. Isn't that the exact opposite of knee jerk?
Is this SH's newest buzzword?
Yeah. I've seen a sudden influx of users throwing it around recently, no doubt they all recently learned about it and can't wait to show off their fancy new rebuttal.
Damn this shit is gonna harsh my fuckin chill ass 2017 like wtf stop being dicks. jesus
Damn this shit is gonna harsh my fuckin chill ass 2017 like wtf stop being dicks. jesus
Um, sorry to tell you, but I don't think 2017 will be getting any better…
Trump brought this on when he campaigned for a year and a half only spewing hate, it's only going to get worse before it gets better. Now he wants unity which won't be possible during his administration.
You're the one to talk, remember all those threads about the other candidate?
They are still doing it in the flag burning thread.
So I guess they had to make sure they were as low as the guys who burned that church
But both of these acts were done by the same side
Can't say I'm surprised anymore. Veterans are treated like shit by the government, and society now.
Where I live (45 min north of Plant City) you can't go down any street without seeing a house or two with Trump signs still there. I wonder why they targeted this house in particular. Tragic nonetheless.
Fraud comes to mind. They weren't home, the place is being foreclosed. These two facts give a potential reason for this. Yeah they don't have insurance to cover "the belongings inside". That's irrelevant. If you're committing foreclosure fraud you're going to cut your losses somewhere if you're going to get away with it. Someone with a mortgage is required to have home insurance by the lender to cover the destruction or damage to the home in some form, I can't think of a single bank that wouldn't have an insurance requirement clause in their contract because that's stupid as hell to not protect your multi-thousand dollar investment. Meaning: these people could have potentially burned their own house down and framed it as a hate crime to use the insurance in their foreclosure. It's possible, I'm not saying it happened, but it's possible. Basically unless we can prove the previous claim of previous graffiti and attempted arson on other properties with police reports or witness statements, we're left with only those two flimsy facts to run with and the victim's own words about other events. Even if we could prove the graffiti, the attempted arson is the only real key point that proves anything malicious by a second party and the article didn't mention any police reports only the victim's statements on the matter. But there's no reason to actually think that's what happened since it's quite the stretch to just flatly chalk it up to someone taking advantage of current events to commit fraud. Poor family, hope they recover well and I hope the police catch the arsonist because that's horrible.
what does this prove exactly?
That people can be monsters no matter where they lay on the political spectrum and that ultimately those who do violence should be damned by all?
Sick of this bullshit. This kind of violence and hatred, no matter what your political beliefs are, is unacceptable in a modern society. Also very tired of these "GOTCHA!" articles that try to show the "other side's" hypocrisy by treating entire groups as monoliths and not accepting that holy shit maybe the people denouncing Trump's violence aren't the exact same people harassing veterans and torching houses, and maybe the person supporting Trump because he prioritized economic issues over social ones (misguidedly imo) isn't the same exact person going to neo-nazi meetings and shouting Heil Trump. Everybody needs to stop generalizing their political opponents' supporters as a single entity. They're not monoliths. This is prevalent on both sides no matter your political beliefs. It's increasing political polarization, encouraging violence, and making cooperation and compromise impossible.
