This exists? And why haven't I heard about this?
I'm posting this because I was watching "The Union" (as to why I'm posting this in DD) and I heard the fact that we (the US) has private prisons. Wait, private? You mean the type of place companies own to make profit off of? Yes, turns out that people are making money off of other people going to jail. And I don't know about you, but fuck me that's pretty scary.
it's pretty ridiculous.
there was a section about these in a michael moore movie, i think it was capitalism: a love story but it could have been sicko. i don't remember which. but he was talking about how theres high school age kids who are sent to these private prisons for stupid inconsequential reasons (not even drugs, i think one of the kids got sent there for cursing at his teacher or something like that) and it's all because the judges and schools make people money.
Gotta love the world's largest criminal organizations... The governments.
If we would live in anarchy, it would be so much better, maybe not at the start but after a few shootouts and stuff I'm sure, we, humans, would make our own moral rules.
Ex: The dude rapes a little girl, the rapist get shot in the head, with a government, the guy that shot the rapist in the head would go to jail, if we would live in a world of anarchy, nobody would kill that killer.
It's like the fucking animals, do they have laws? No. Are they doing well out-there in the nature? Yea.
Dirtbox, you DO know that these very moral rules that we humans would make is the very definition of society and the form of government that comes with that?
sigh
too dumb of a post mate, sorry
Since when putting someone in jail for smoking weed is moral? Since when making money out of the pain of the others is moral?
Since when putting someone in jail for smoking weed is moral? Since when making money out of the pain of the others is moral?
Putting someone is jail for smoking weed is ridiculous yes, but making money out of the pain of others? What?
dude you are way too out there to be posting about this shit mate, sorry
ugh
if we human beings would find moral rules to live by etc well guess what man, government would come with it pretty fast. (if not, chaos)

Why would I have been in prison? I don't do anything illegal, nor do I intend to. I also don't smoke at all, but weedz are legal here anyways.

Uh. Because he might be interested in the subject?
The more I hear about the US, the more I'm happy I don't live there. So much of the completely baffling bullshit you hear about happening in the US just doesn't really happen in Canada, and when it does it gets ripped to shreds by relatively mainstream media (Toronto G8 summit) and completely scorned by the public.
Honestly it just seems like a sizable part of the country is just completely misguided in their attempts to improve anything and they just ignore more serious issues. It's cliche, but greed is the backbone of America and it goes ignored while people bitch about having to spend more taxes on a healthcare program. Meanwhile, corporate tax cuts slip by with almost no attention.
That's all my view. I might be completely misguided.

I'm not gonna america fuck yeah you, but seriously. The only things you hear about america are bad, because that's what people are complaining about.
I could list a ton of bad shit that's happened in Canada, things that happen that are bad in the US are just blown out of proportion and so Europeans and Canadians thing we're huge fucking dumbasses.

Lol, the second part of Zeitgeist (the part about economics) is severely retarded, and I've just watched part of it. It all goes on the premise that we have free markets and true capitalism today, and from there it goes on to show that the system today doesn't work (which is true), therefore free market capitalism fails. Problem is, and this should be obvious to anyone with half a brain, we do not have free markets in todays society. Every example they show is perfect, not for showing that capitalism feeds on inefficiency and destruction, but for showing that governments create false, destructive markets through legislastion. War on drugs profit? Private prisons and medical industry lobbying. Medical industry profit? Again, medical industry lobbying to shut out competition, create difficult and expertise-requiring beaurocracy, and make research and innovation virtually impossible. Military industrial complex? Come the fuck on, that's too easy.

I've only seen zeitgeist once but do they even bring up any of those examples? I don't think the main focus is that free market capitalism fails but that the monetary paradigm fails as money is a false resource, overrepresenting our real resource supply, and that we simply aren't a sustainable society in our current state.

First off, nothing is a false resource. Things have whatever value is projected onto them.
Saying that the monetary system fails since its infinite circulation doesn't represent the worlds finite resources is kind of a strawman - noone ever said it did. The free market solution to the finite resource problem is, as with all other things, that if people value sustainability (which they most presumably do), they will act responsibly and conservatively with the worlds resources. I'm all for informing people of what I think is a very real problem, but there's no reason to believe we need some kind of NWO singular state bullshit to solve it.
I can agree with that, I guess, only because humans don't seem naturally inclined to function in a society like that. I don't think humans are inclined to function in any kind of successful, sustainable society at this point, though.
A large part of that movie was showing that singular state NWO bullshit would be very effective if people did submit to it, though, which I don't really think you can deny.
