Steam just stopping when logging in (but still responding)

Recently, one of my video cards took a shit on me and decided to stop working (I had two nVidia 8600GT's, sli or whatever (I'm not too hardware savvy)). Ever since then, I couldn't log into Steam. When I enter my account name and password and click "Login", the button stays 'pressed in' (like when Steam is loading, or something), and just stays like that. It's not labeled 'Not responding', it just stays like this. Any ideas what could be wrong before I try reinstalling Steam?

tried deleting your clientregistry.blob file? ( it auto recreates it)
