Most likely not, because all of Valve's censored games have the actual content modified rather than just turned off. To get it back, you have to extract the unmodified files from a foreign copy and put them into your game.
Just pitch into a four-pack with somebody from overseas and have them gift it to you. It'll come uncensored if it's gifted from an uncensored origin, but THE VICE VERSA IS ALSO THE SAME. So Aussies, unless you want angry foreign friends, don't be the one buying the four-pack. :v:

And by the way, if L4D2 keeps the feature from L4D1, then you can access censored mode in the uncensored versions by putting "-lv" in the startup commands. Dunno why you'd want to, but it's there...

Yeah, that's called censoring real violence and it's not as uncommon as you might think.
No need to worry about the censored version. A patch will probably be released after release officially or unofficially either way the government can't do anything about it. As long as L4D2 isn't completely banned then we're good.
They really are behind the rest of the world aren't they? Some of the judges said that they believed it was unfair the age restrictions prevented Australian gamers from having the same experience from the rest of the world. There is no 18 rating, but a 15 certicate is the highest (too low in my opinion), so what's the point in having it in the first place?
