The CIA has begun delivering weapons to rebels in Syria, ending months of delay in lethal aid that had been promised by the Obama administration, according to U.S. officials and Syrian figures. The shipments began streaming into the country over the past two weeks, along with separate deliveries by the State Department of vehicles and other gear — a flow of material that marks a major escalation of the U.S. role in Syria’s civil war.
The arms shipments, which are limited to light weapons and other munitions that can be tracked, began arriving in Syria at a moment of heightened tensions over threats by President Obama to order missile strikes to punish the regime of Bashar al-Assad for his alleged use of chemical weapons in a deadly attack near Damascus last month.
"Stop the Bloodshed, send more guns!"
What is it with the CIA arming groups that are in league with islamic extremists? Did the Mujahideen teach them nothing
no surprise here
Wow the Us really want the syrian government to piss off.
Give it 10 years and those weapons will be turned on us. I'm calling it now.

If it even takes that long

Well at least we know whats over there.
Seriously, is there a recall process for the Nobel Peace Prize? Deliberately providing weapons to prolong the Syrian meat grinder and warmongering for a bombing campaign is about as anti-peace as it gets.
whyyyyyyyy
this can only end well

Given that it's been a bloody stalemate so far without assistance I'd say that giving weapons to one side or the other will probably shorten the conflict, provided it doesn't turn into a proxy war.

Apparently no

Either they haven't learned and they're being idiots, or they have learned and it's exactly what they want: ensuring more wars for the future to fuel the military-industrial complex.
85% chance it's the former, though.
Guys.
guys listen
Guys.
I know arming militant batshit insane people might have slightly been a bit of an error, kind of, in the past, but guys
guys.
It'll work this time.
come on guys.
just try this with us
please guys
Didn't they agree to this ~6months ago anyway?
i mean whenever has this not worked out perfectly before
That's a pretty damn cool photo of an RPG shot, gotta admit.
What the fuck is wrong with the CIA? Aren't they supposed to help people, not start shit indirectly?
Fucking idiots.
I sometimes wonder what journalism and the news would even consist of if the middle east didn't exist.
Must have been sent via the Contra express. it's almost like they just don't care so long as they destabilize things.

well obama did said he didn't deserve it, since he never did anything, the fault really lies with the nobel prize committee.

the US benefits from the civil war, and that the only reason obama was all uppity about a strike is because he is dumb enough to mention a "red line" and is afraid of looking weak, iran(and hezbollah) are pretty much wasting their limited resources in syria trying to keep the regime from falling, and thats good for the US.
it won't end badly for the US or even for israel, for the syrians on the other hand, welp.
also lol, the CIA is one the most skeevy organizations out there, things like these are pretty much their job.
I've got a terrible feeling the US is only doing this to prolong the conflict, seeing as Assad is currently coming out on top and that US/Israel only wants to see the sides slaughter each other into oblivion.

Before that, they're going to switch hands multiple times being used to kill people all over Africa. Some will end up in hands of African tribal warlords (btw, they're there for decades, doing ethnic cleansing for breakfest, where're European [del]warhawks[/del] peace doves).
This is all nonsense, there was only one solution all along

I'm the Mujahideen and I'm makin' a scene
Now you's gonna feel what the boom-boom means
on-topic - the CIA do all sorts of shady shit, they haven't changed as much as they'd like people to think since the Iran Contra thing, if anything they got worse
