Short so I copied it all.
Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will visit the Vatican next week to attend a conference on social issues, his campaign announced today.
The invitation was extended by the Vatican, Sanders said today. Sanders said on "Morning Joe" that he was "very moved" by the invitation.
“I’m a big, big fan of the pope," Sanders said. "Obviously there are areas where we disagree, on women's rights or gay rights, but he has played an unbelievable role, an unbelievable role of injecting a moral consequence into the economy.
“People think Bernie Sanders is radical," he added. "Read what the pope is writing.”
In other news: another hatchet job was tried again today called "Sanders over the Edge" in the NYTimes.
Relevant.

Two great people meeting. I'm excited.

i like how kasich isn't even in this
kasich is sane though
kasich is sane though
Don't get me wrong Kasich has some shitty qualities but unlike the rest of them, he is sane.
Kasich is only staying in the race to steal delegates to help force a brokered convention in which it will more than likely go in favor of Ted Cruz, he's just playing the game like everyone else.
There's a lot of big Catholic states coming up. This could flip the vote of a lot of minority voters, probably Latinos and Filipinos.

At this point he's just stealing delegates from Cruz, giving Trump majorities everywhere.

It doesn't matter who he steals delegates from. Cruz most likely won't get the necessary delegates either, if he steals any delegates from Trump (the only one with a real shot at getting the necessary delegates) it's a win. He offers an alternative to the Tea Party Christian mentality of Cruz and the bombastic anti-establishment of Trump.
I mean, he mathematically has zero chance and hasn't had a chance in weeks and GOP officials are beginning to throw their support at Ted.

There was that time that he went on a one man crusade against Fargo...
Was Bernie the only candidate running that was invited?
The "Sanders over the edge" failed to keep trending.
Really wish Santorum (whom is Catholic) was running again, just to see his reaction to this :v:
Was Bernie the only candidate running that was invited?
yes, and the only candidate to ever be invited
Really wish Santorum (whom is Catholic) was running again, just to see his reaction to this :v:
That guy makes my skin crawl. I don't even want to think about being in the same faith as him.
*Shivers back into the corner*
Wasn't Santorum Morman? Or am I thinking of another candidate?

mitt romney
I wonder what Clinton's political hive mind are thinking as a counter?
They can't outright condemn Sanders, as that would marginalize Catholics.
They can't also request to see the pope, as that would come across as the horse and not the carriage.
They could condemn the Pope's beliefs on certain social issues, but that is a touchy political minefield.
I'm legitimately surprised by this news though - maybe God's mouthpiece will be the super-super-delegate that Sanders needs.

Yeah, I didn't know they gave out the divine right of kings anymore, but I'll take it.

they were claiming that Sanders invited himself but that was quickly shot down as total BS
two cuckolds hanging out not a surprise

Even the pope is feeling the bern.

Im trying to descipher the meaning behind this sentence
Anyone?
Im trying to descipher the meaning behind this sentence

Back in the day rulers of certain countries supposedly had the backing of god, thus it was their "divine right" to rule.
His post is a tongue in cheek reference to that (The pope is about as close to god as you can get on and thus his endorsement could cheekily be seen as saying that Sanders has the divine right to become president)
Im trying to descipher the meaning behind this sentence

it's to do with an old concept used to support monarchy in that the king was ordained by god
usually a good way to do this was to receive backing from the pope
thus bernie sanders visiting the pope and getting support from him
There are rumours that Sanders made the first move and invited himself to see the Pope, but papal officials claim that they are untrue :v:

The rumors are from Hillary supporters, They know that she might lose New York because Bernie was invited by the pope, and New York is a catholic state.
