The game is far to easy, that's its main problem. They tried to appeal to a more casual audience and destroyed any challenge in the process, Everyone and their mum can get higher tier armours now there's no incentive to continue playing.

LFR? Community wanted it, make the game easier? Community wanted it, nerf dungeons? Community wanted it, nerf raids? Community wanted it. I still remember all the bitching and moaning about how hard Cata content was at the beginning and the demand for nerfing. Its either a very vocal minority complaining with nostalgia goggles on, or the community realized that making the game easier for themselves was a dumb idea. If the premise behind people leaving is because they can't be elitist and show off their tier gear then I'm glad they fucked off. Theres also the fact that people are simply bored of the game, markets in other continents leaving (Asian market is the biggest of the drops due to heavy MMO competition there), gold sellers dropping, people waiting for better content etc. The biggest problem is how dated WoW is in terms of character models and basic MMO designs now like weight scale or height scale etc We also remember a similar drop in subs near around cata, they shot right back up for MoP. All Blizzard has done is catered to its audience, and its slowly killing them off.
Cataclysm wasn't really that hard, but that was compensated by a wave of retarded new players not knowing how to play in raids and not knowing the concept of making an effort and loyalty.
I doubt it's hurting their wallets much, with people not wanting to play the MMO that went from fun as hell, to lame as hell with nothing to do except stand in Orgrimmar/Stormwind and stare at peoples cosmetics. Oh right, now they can BUY cosmetics. Heh.
I want to know how many of that 600,000 is from Asia region.
You can't say it's easy unless you've cleared heroic raids.
But there's no incentive really to do the heroic raids, everyone's seen the content in raid finder and everyone's already bored of it. LFR really has just made raiding as boring of a grind as HC dungeons. I miss going into a raid for the first time and being excited to see the content and it not being a complete breeze to complete it.
I miss going into a raid for the first time and being excited to see the content and it not being a complete breeze to complete it.
Then don't do LFR?
Then don't do LFR?
Then you can't get into a normal raid because everyone would have a go at you for your gear.
Then don't do LFR?
not viable, the way the game works now because of LFR means that you have to do LFR
They still have 7 million players... thats still a crazy ridiculous amount.
The lowering subscription numbers actually might not be that bad of a thing. Blizzard's been kind of stuck in a position of trying to make 11 million people happy and it obviously isn't working. Maybe they can do some creative stuff to get people coming back.
They still have 7 million players... thats still a crazy ridiculous amount.
Considering that it's such a old game it's amazing.
Then you can't get into a normal raid because everyone would have a go at you for your gear.
Then stop trying to pug shit weeks after it comes out? Literally no guild would bitch at you for not having LFR gear considering the LFR version unlocks after the raid. If you hate content being a "breeze" the first time you see it, then maybe you should make an effort to stop doing the thing that makes it a "breeze".
not viable, the way the game works now because of LFR means that you have to do LFR
If his first time seeing content is LFR, but he hates LFR, then he should make an effort to not do LFR first. Whether or not you think it's required is irrelevant.
Proud to say I'm one of them, Games turned to shit and I can't see myself returning unless there is something to other then daily quests and raiding / challenge modes etc
They still have 7 million players... thats still a crazy ridiculous amount.
For such a huge game world and so many servers across the continents not really... Too many empty servers are a big problem and blizzard is trying to fix it by making them cross realm and trying to merge them together but what needs to be done is they need to be deleted permanently. Another big problem with the game is that blizz adds hard content say Oondasta and many other things and then what happens? In the next major patch they nerf them so that others can catch up to the next content faster. Or in PvP, now they made it so that you don't even need PvP gear to be good in PvP anymore so that others can experience or get better in PvP. These are the the biggest problem in WoW.

There wasn't any purpose to waste your time throwing yourself at a brick wall that gave you loot that wasn't worth the effort. And even if they did give him heroic ilvl loot or something casual players would just be gearing themselves out in Heroic gear and everyone that does heroic raids would be pissed.
or in PvP, now they made it so that you don't even need PvP gear to be good in PvP anymore so that others can experience or get better in PvP.
I don't see how this is a problem, pvp gear was just something else to make people grind for and suck at pvp until they could earn some.
You can't say it's easy unless you've cleared heroic raids.
That is all these threads are. People who, if they have even reached an expansions level cap, never touched the actual parts of the game designed to be hard. Then they call the game too easy and in their expert analysis conclude that is why the game is losing subscribers. Obviously the game is easy, you are fucking playing on easy mode.
Cataclysm wasn't really that hard
Cataclysm launch heroics were brutal compared to Wrath heroics at the time. They required CC, mobs had high health and hit hard, and recent healer changes made every spell you cast precious because it healed for shit and ate into your mana supply. Personally I had no problem with it because I played WoW exclusively in a guild, and it was actually super satisfying to CC multiple targets and pull intelligently, brought me back to TBC heroics. But it did cause a lot of people to quit. [editline]26th July 2013[/editline]
For such a huge game world and so many servers across the continents not really...
7 million people playing your game monthly is impressive regardless of any other factor. 7 million people paying $15 a month to play your game is incredibly successful. Yeah, some servers are dead, because after 8 years and no merges that is going to happen. It doesn't make the number any less impressive. And anyway, Blizzard already has a solution in place; cross realm zones. Even on lower pop servers you can see other people now. It's impressive tech.
it will be back to 9 million once the next expansion is released.
But there's no incentive really to do the heroic raids
The incentive is so that you actually have some credibility when you go to a forum and say how easy WoW has become.
To me wow was great untill cataclysm.
I wish the 7m left would wake up and realise its just not a good game even when difficult it was bland as fuck
To me wow was great untill cataclysm.
The idea of totally revamping every zone to at least give it a new feeling while also advancing the story was pretty good, but I don't know, it just didn't go over well.
I wish the 7m left would wake up and realise its just not a good game even when difficult it was bland as fuck
I also wish people would stop enjoying things I don't.
The idea of totally revamping every zone to at least give it a new feeling while also advancing the story was pretty good, but I don't know, it just didn't go over well.
Redoing the vanilla zones was a massive undertaking and I remember reading an interview a few months after Cataclysm released with one of the devs describing the immense amount of work that went into it. Personally for me it paid off though. The Forsaken 1-50 leveling loop in northern Eastern Kingdoms is some of the most fun I've had leveling in an MMO. All the zones flow into one another and you have plenty of lore and story based quests with voice acting and cutscenes.
WoW isn't going anywhere soon even with their current model. WoW would still be profitable on 3 million subscribers and probably less knowing they are more or less merging servers now.
It's time to make a new Warcraft game, blizzard. You can't keep WOW on life support any longer. I remember when Warcraft used to be a real time strategy game
I also wish people would stop enjoying things I don't.
They can still enjoy it, its not like there are any great alternatives. I wish for a massive online game i can get totally lost in with believable progressive gameplay/storys and leveling. This doesnt exist though.
