Couldn't you already buy this from Xbox's Games On Demand? Why not rerelease Quake 1 or 2?
I... wouldn't pay $20 for it. Or $15. Or $10. Maybe $5. It was an incredibly generic run of the mill shooter back in 2005, it'd be even worse now.
Hah, what the hell.
Eh, why not. I just hope they can get ther rights that ID lost to Commander Keen episodes 6 (Aliens Ate my Babysitter) and 3.5 (Keen's Dreams)

I hated quake 4, it was generic and boring.
I have this. Why are you re releasing this. It was kinda fun when I got it, the only benefit I can see to this is multiplayer may pick up again....
I did enjoy Quake 4. But the whole thing was almost ruined by its lame ending and underwhelming last boss. That said there were some pretty intense fights in the game which were pretty good fun.
but it is already on 360? i dont get it
Maybe they're doing it so the copies will say Bethesda on it instead of id?
Maybe they're doing it so the copies will say Bethesda on it instead of id?
activision, not id... it wouldnt make sense to remove the developers name off a release, it would be like taking the authors name off a book
I actually kind of liked Quake 4. Sure, it was no Quake 2 but it was alright. The only thing about it was how the bodies disappeared seconds after you kill a guy just like DooM 3. What, they didn't think people's computers could handle that shit? I swear, that one little tiny mostly insignificant thing pissed me the fuck off.
Hopefully they'll do something about the horrendous performance issues that the original release of Q4 on the 360 had. I picked up a used copy of the original version for 360 a long time ago, and it ran like absolute shit.
I sort of liked Quake 4 in the way that it was so amazingly generic nobody really gave me a game like it. It was the sort of game I fell back on when I got bored of innovation and I just wanted a very bland but solidly made FPS, when I got tired of games trying to do new things and perhaps not succeeding.
Maybe they're restarting the Quake series and this is to get people interested in the series again?
"hey guys, lets re-release one of our worst games ever for 20 bucks"
It's an alright game for $20. I disagree with calling it generic. Generic is releasing several modern combat FPS year after year in the same brown deserts using the same tactic00l bullshit.
Maybe they're restarting the Quake series and this is to get people interested in the series again?
But if they wanted to do that it'd probably be a lot better to release a "Quake Anniversary"-ish title which crams 1, 2, and 3 onto a single 360 disk, instead of rerelease a game which debuted on the same console and was kind of meh anyway.

Now if they did a HD remake, then they'd be on the right track.
I gave up on Quake 4 because I got stuck in the exact same spot I get in with every ID game Latest Save: 5hp, shitloads of enemies, no healthkits anywhere Previous Save: ages before the latest one

Game autosaved right as my car was going over a cliff and exploding. I tried about 10 times to change the result but just ended up restarting the level. :v:
it just didn't have what made the first or second Quake great. that nerve-racking emptiness when you realize there's nothing friendly beyond, the horrible nightmarish corridors and inhuman architecture that you have to maneuver around (as always the bad rendering of it lend to the imagination), using your speed and spatial comprehension while you viciously tap the mouse button and jump around like a fucking madman. they were very impressionistic games, the more baggage and useless clutter the worse the game would become and Quake 4 had baggage and clutter in spades.
dunno about you but I saw "bethesda" and "re-releasing" and my hopes were put up too high
Wait, so it's not getting new graphics or anything? It's just getting put on sale again? When it's still on sale where I live. What.

If they wanna re-release it, they should do an HD version, otherwise it probably wouldn't be as well-received as it was on original release. Also, I dearly hope that the next Quake they make is in the style of the first game, with the dimension-hopping and the non-linear levels and the Lovecraftian enemies. Sure, the Strogg are welcome to hop along for the ride as a secondary antagonist, but the otherworldly nightmare-beasts need to take the stage again; they haven't been around since Quake 1.
This Doom 3 and HL2 were the staple of gaming for me in 2005, if I remember correctly it was the first game I seen apart from Doom 3 that looked miles apart from what I had been playing previously, shadows and textures etc.
