The China Daily reports that Zhang Heng, 22, took up a grueling, mountainous bike race as a graduation trip to see if he could make it alone. On a stop in Sichuan province, he encountered a ratty white dog that looked hungry. “She was lying, tired, on the street,” Heng told reporters. “So we fed her, and then she followed our team.” The dog stayed by his team’s side night and day, travelling 2,000 kilometres to the race’s finish Saturday at the Tibetan capital Lhasa. She was affectionately named Xiao Sa, a combination of “little” and the second syllable of Lhasa. Heng said Xiao Sa ran the whole course, except when he’d carry her downhill to avoid high-speed danger. Xiao Sa also became a star among Chinese bloggers. Heng created a Weibo blog, similar to Twitter, tracking their progress. The account netted 40,000 followers. Many of them reposted a photo Heng posted when they reached their final destination, announcing he’d be adopting the dog.
http://www.thestar.com/news/crime/article/1194920--stray-dog-joins-china-mountain-bike-race-travels-2-000-kilometres What a winner

The dog followed the only people that showed any care for him. Man's best friend indeed.

It's so heartwarming to know he's adopting the dog too. I love this.
I love how dogs can give so much for accepting so little :)
I miss my dog. Had him for 9 years
Why did I have to cut onions at just the same time as I read this article...
I wish I had one as long as it wouldn't bite me
This dog is like the opposite of Seymour.

god i try walking my dog and she sits just down in the middle of the road
No not Futurama again. WHY DO I KEEP REMEMBERING
After the race the dog reportedly stayed to wait for the next one, sat down and closed its eyes
Kinda shows just how unfit we have gotten when a little homeless dog can get up and do a run that would take us years to prepare for.

This is why dogs are better than cats. If he had run into a cat and fed it, the cat would have just sat there like "the fuck do you expect out of me??

Just don't count on the cat to be your "friend". Both cats and dogs are awesome.
About a year ago, there was a dog that stayed beside his owners grave. Not leaving at all. Amazing dog indeed.

Then he'd latch onto one of the spokes of the front wheel.
They are going to eat the dog.
